Almost there! I shut off ZoneAlarm and that took care of the link-dead problem. I still have a good deal of lag, though, so that's the next thing to figure out! Eldrid

try without zonealarm? I'll give this a shot tonight. Also, I don't think it would hurt to set in the BIOS the Video RAM to use 50% of Memory, as Nuad suggested, would it?...although I think I have plenty of memory to work with since nothing else is running either. Thanks for reminding me, Nuad:

AMD 1.4 + W2k Pro, 1GB DDR RAM, GeForce3 64 MB, cable modem

Even with everything I can think of turned off, one of the two copies goes link dead.
