EQW woes

Post by Amadeus » Sun Jun 30, 2002 5:45 pm

I can't seem to get EQW to work at all. It crashes right after I enter my name/password. Does anyone know of a newer version than Beta 2.22?

Otherwise, I can't imagine actually writing/debugging a macro without getting EQ in a window ..hehe 8)

For Questions regarding EQW take a look at http://www.hackersquest.org/boards/, they have a Board just for anything about EQW.

Salutations,
For me, the only difference between 16 and 32 bit screen resolution determines whether i get a ton of pink which is supposed to be transparent, other then that i don't find much other difference...

depends on the card.. a nvida card will blow out in nvid32.dll if the desktop depth and eqclient.ini setting do not match =) exactly at the point where Amadeus said it does.

now that was with the ini setting at 16 and my desktop at 32.. could be diffrent if you ran your desktop at 16 and eq was set to 32. /shrug

Salutations,
i have a nvidia geforce 2 mx 440 64mbddr... eq set to 16, desktop set to 32... Sometimes when i start it i also get it to show two screens on the one screen (cuts width in a little short of a half, then displays it with an offset so there is an overlap on the edges of the screen) so i just run my desktop at 16 unless i'm doing something really graphic intensive (ie making a logo where i need to beable to tell the difference between #000000 and #030303 which isn't much...

Sorry to post this here instead of at hackersquest, but my friend tech support department has blocked hackerquest as "criminal activity." *gasp*

Anyway, I get one copy of EQW to run just fine, but as soon as I fire up the second copy, one or the other quickly goes LD. I am running it from two different directories, fyi. Can anyone offer any advice? Thanks,

Eldrid

Eldrid, do you have any sort of firewall, NAT, ICS, or other ip/port redirection?
That issue is so familiar with AC, but fuzzy in the back of my mind...

Thanks for responding, Plazmic. Well, I'm not really a tech guy, so I'll just tell you about my set-up. I run a single computer on a cable modem with my local cable provider, AT&T. I have no network of any kind but I do have ZoneAlarm running at all times. I wonder if this has anything to do with it!

You don't need to have two EQ Dirs for this...

The Ability to start two copies depends on your Computer and your Connection. If your Computer don't have enough power and/or your Connection is too slow it won't work.

Hints: Turn off what ever you can turn off (SoL Models, Effects, Clip Plane...) and minimize the first copy while loading the second. Ah and set in your BIOS the Video RAM to use 50% of your Memory.

1st Comp here: AMD 1800+ XP, 1GB CL2 DDR RAM, GeForce3 Ti 200 64 MB, ADSL ... two copies without any LAG problem with all Effects on.

2nd Comp here: PII 400, 512 MB PC133 SDRAM, GeForce2 64 MB, ADSL ... 2nd copy is laggy like hell with all Effects off.

Thanks for reminding me, Nuad:

AMD 1.4 + W2k Pro, 1GB DDR RAM, GeForce3 64 MB, cable modem

Even with everything I can think of turned off, one of the two copies goes link dead.

I still think it's a port conflict between the two clients...
AC had that issue also with specific setups, but alas... fuzzy memory...
try without zonealarm?

try without zonealarm?
I'll give this a shot tonight.

Also, I don't think it would hurt to set in the BIOS the Video RAM to use 50% of Memory, as Nuad suggested, would it?...although I think I have plenty of memory to work with since nothing else is running either.

One other thought: could this trouble have anything to do with Windows 2,000 Professional?

Thanks, guys...Eldrid

doubt it is OS related... (not counting OS default *settings* that vary between versions)
