I used to be pretty good with perl, but I haven't really looked into how perl is used within MQ. btw, if you have embedded perl into the program, all that string manipulation mckorr is trying to do would be simplicity itself (if you know how to use embedded perl from within c, I got a book somewhere...

There are plenty of ways to make plat. Take those hides you farm, get some spiderling silk and make leather padding. I saw that on sale for 30p per in the bazaar the other day. (just make a trader to sell in bazaar while you sleep). Occasionally, I'll run arround the newbie cities mining the merchan...

It's not a bug, it's a FEATURE, can you think of another way to quit entirely out of EQ that fast? (Turbo log out we used to call this on a massive object oriented propretary CAD tool I used to work on)

Well, I spend tons on trade skills, and you get about, say, 95% of your plat back on successfull combines. I will agree that it is a shame there is no way to really make a living, other than through the player ecconomy, off of tradeskills, but given plat farmers I can understand where that comes fro...

Wheres the cheese
I think it's obvious by the recent flurry of posts elswhere, Sprite has horded (or maybe whoreded) all the cheese.

It's not easy being cheesey, but it's so cheasy to be easy.

I would love for their to be no profitable (via vendor sales) trade skills in the game. If there are none, then the use of macros are much less offensive to SOE and I can begin to mitigate much of the BS unfun game play, (and if anyone from Sony is reading, maybe pay a little longer to play EQ befor...

Slight mixup there, MQ IS cheating, but MAY be legal. EULA does not making it cheating or not cheating, just legal or not legal. I get fuzzy on the cheating/not cheating thing. For instance, (anecdotal alert) there was a guy who got suspended or maybe even banned early on for using the /date comman...

MQ may or may not be cheating, I don't think the EULA is legally binding, it is certainly challengable. Bottom line for me is, EQ is a game. There are many aspects of it which are NOT FUN. Mittigating these makes the game more enjoyable. Using hacks to the point of removing the challenge from the ga...

Take me to court then =) Plazmic is the copyright owner, so he is needed. Plazmic is not around anymore. If it was taken to court the verdict would most likely be that the source had to be released. Do you really think the devs want /click to be public? If you do think again. No I dont think anyone...

You have to make the source freely available. You can sell it, sell compiled versions, etc. but the source must also be available at no cost.

What I was referring to with the IDE development is that there are, AFAIK, currently efforts to build complete IDE's built on top of the free command line compiler which would be competition to VSxx. That's pretty cool in my book! There are some mighty fine IDE's out there for free, and some, like e...

If they are using any MQ source they are inviolation of the gpl. (Since they specifically call out offsets, I'm guessing they are using the MQ source). If so, what they are doing is actionable, but they probably realize no one will go through the painful effort of filing suit against them.

There is, I think, a free command line .net from Micro$oft, but I don't know too much about it, (avoiding their IDE's whenever possible). Apparently, people are building free IDE's on top of the free command line version. So, there may be a free and legitimate way to compile MQ.
