I read the sticky'd post above that told you how to compile MQ with a microsoft program that would never expire, so i download the first one , the one the guide explained how to use.One problem , when i clicked Download whatever i clicked Save , well when the download had finished i tried to execute it and it wouldn't i clicked it many time and even went to the start menu and did " Run " and it still would not install itself.Next i tried Open and it did nothing, absolutely nothin. Not even a download progress window came up or anything .What am I doing wrong here ? I cannot compile MQ with the Visual that expires withinin 3 hrs, every time i reserver a time , it wont let me access my demo.I really want to get MQ working again so i need some help.

Thanks in advance.

This is what im talking about

"It is possible to build Macroquest with tools that are downloaded completely from Microsoft's website. These tools are fully functional and do not expire. The only thing missing is any kind of GUI interface.

1) Download the Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003 from http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/vctoolkit2003/. The download is just over 32MB in size. Install with default options."

little_wing,

when it comes to compiling and doing anything other than playing everquest and general messing around with the internet I am a complete retard, hell half the time I dont know how to install these macro's or make the work. But that post on how to compile your own macroquest2 version is all you need. Just fill the shit out. Try it. follow the DETAILED instructions and "Pay Attention To Detail" and you will have no problems. If you try and use other programs.. hell they may work. but why would you goto all that trouble. KISS - Which stands for Keep It Simple Stupid is the best way I can try and explain to you.

I wish that I went to college for some stuff around the computer industry and but didnt. I am in the US Navy and I follow KISS. Being a Combat Engeneer I have to KISS all the time.

Follow the instructions, PM me ask me questions I will give you the best answers I know how.

everyone says use search but its hard to sort through 24 pages of anything that has "how" in the name.

I want to donate to the developers, because I here there is more information for people that donate, as there should be because you are now PAYING for a service. When I can afford to not live from paycheck to paycheck I will donate. but untill then I am like the rest of the board troll scum... getting something for free and having to figure it out for myself.

KISS - Live by it.

This is not a flame or a troll or anythign take it for what it's worth.

I do not consider donations anythign of the sort. I am not a dev but a donation in my opinion is a sort of 'Thank You'. There is no 'pay service' associated with the macroquest project, that would contravene the rules set forth in other areas of the site imho.

Do I think donations are good? Yes. Do I think they help in many ways? Yes. Are they [payment for a service? Nope. ANyways, just struck me as an odd statement that I was hoping I might rectify.

Spanky_Monkey,

Ahh yes im sorry for wording that post in that way. I can see now after you pointing it out how it is a payment for service, and macroquest is free.

My appoligies on that to anyone that might have thought the same as Spanky.
