People with wireless routers

Post by Aarrow » Sun Aug 15, 2004 2:56 am

This applies to people who have a wireless router on the first floor and a computer on the second floor (or other floors besides the first) or vice versa. Look at my explination showing that you need to tilt the antenna on your router so that the sides of the antenna face in the direction of your computer. Hope this helps anyone getting poor connections on wireless routers.

Simple wavelength and RF propagation. If you REALLY want a nice signal, build yourself a 3 element YAGI antenna, assuming your wireless router uses a standard BNC connection or some other -standard- type of connector connecting the existing antenna to the unit.

It will be a narrow signal, but if you have only one computer upstairs, it would probably make it as if that computer were sitting right beside the wireless router. Flourescent bulbs/balasts and cordless phones are notorious for being signal interupters.
