PoF AE Kiteing

Post by EQBot_man » Thu Jul 29, 2004 2:30 pm

So PoFire sucks for lag. Everyone knows it. While I'm running MQ2 the lag is horrendous. I kite for PoF AE groups and while I'm running MQ2 halfway through gathering the mobs my computer starts to lag REAL bad. the second I /unload (if I don't crash and die) the lag clears up immediately.
I was thinking oh maybe MQ is trying to get the information on the current location of all the mobs and that kills network traffic or something. But I have no idea. All I know is that I lag a lot while trying to kite PoFire with MQ and I don't lag whatsoever without it. Anyone have any ideas? Perhaps its a plugin that's cuasing it? I can't really test which plugins they are from trial and error since.. I got like 300 mobs chasing after me. Any suggestions?

Oh. Also rightclick holding on bard haste shows that it is a dehaster by 100%. which it clearly isn't . Should be like a haste of 55% or something like that. And the DD/DoT modifier songs(Rizlona and Echo of Trunic(or something like that)) are messed up to. I see messed up MQ Sytaxes where the word Target should be. Its hard to explain but I think something is messed up with them. Also there are a lot of named in that MQ thinks are named but really aren't. I'll try to compile a list. But one off the bat is Di`Zok royal Guard in chardok. And a bunch of Kod'taz.

Hrm, I haven't kited in PoFire in a long ass time, but I still attend raids there pretty regularly. I don't tend to have any problems whatsoever except for the normal system crunching lag when I get within the clip plane of the rest of the raid for the first time. Turning does seem to be a little laggier than normal in PoF compared to other zones though, I'll give you that.

Have you tried doing /loadskin and reloading your UI before kiting? I know it works wonders for clearing up framerate lag I get in a lot of zones. Might be an alternative to dumping MQ2 while kiting.

From what I gather, mq uses very little cpu unless it's running something like genbot.

Also:
I was thinking oh maybe MQ is trying to get the information on the current location of all the mobs and that kills network traffic or something.
MQ doesn't gather information over your connection. MQ takes the info that's already been sent to you, and puts it on the map. To the best of my knowledge (which as my name implies isn't a lot) MQ can't really cause any extra usage on your connection since it's based entirely on data already available to the EQ client.

All that said I was lagging in fire bad, but I noticed it was because mq2fps for some reason was setting max FPS in the foreground to 14. I have no idea how it changed but once I bumped that up to 100 (and thus basically making it the same as /unloading mq entirely as far as mq2fps was concerned) the lag went away.

disable enviromental particles first thing. All those useless flames on the trees kills most people. Sound is also a huge fps hog, and most people dont play with sound on anyway. Might as well disable it all together.

Note, disable them *before* zoning into PoFire. With the advent of DX9, disabling them when already in zone does nothing for the objects already displaying crap, only new ones.

go to Uqua in GoD and type /who npc #. you'll get a list of almost every trash mob in the zone that isn't spawned by a trap =/
