Nope on both accounts.
All commands get detoured to MQ before they are sent to the eq client. That's why mq can add a command and the client doesn't say "that command is not valid." The eq client only see's what it's suppose to see.


When the game crashes and mq is running you'll see a box that pops up and says plainly mq2 is blocking the "send info to sony" crash box for safty. Even if the box did pop up you are given the option to say no, mq just removes the option for you so you don't fuck up and click yes :)

I noticed after READING THE README :D that to turn it off, you have to type /unload in the EQ client. Being that /unload isnt a regular EQ command, wont that trip a flag? Sony is probably screening for this, no?

It also said that if I just close it , the game will crash. I believe I heard something that if it crashes, there is a chance for some MQ2 info to be sent to Sony, so I definitely dont want this. So the only solution then is to just leave it on and camp out of EQ then, right?

Am I the only one that sees this post in the wrong order? I read the first post by mqnewbie and was like WTF is he talking about, and then I read the reply by Noob and I was like O_o

I have nothing of substance to add. But yeah, what mqnewb said. You could still fuck yourself over by mistyping a sort-of MQ command in the client I guess; like forgetting to put /mac and just putting in the macro name after the /. But, I really don't think it's a big deal considering I've been guilty of making the same typo and I'm still playing.

But whatever, if you're worried about getting your toon banzored, just don't use MQ. I myself have been playing EQ since Kunark, and if I get banned or even suspended, no big loss since I could care fuckall about my PA $$ value. Without MQ though, this game is indeed a lot less fun. Though with each patch, they seem to keep adding in little tidbits that made me like MQ2 to begin with; after /consent raid all I'll need is /lootcorpse and I won't need MQ unless I'm 2 boxing!

if I type /plugin <plugin name> <plugin attribute> in an regulat EQ Chat window, the command still gets caught by MQ2 BEFORE the EQClient does?

So SOE wont see / or notice?

Cause there are certain plug ins, like /warp target and such, that SOE considers a high-priority hack.

I mean, if I were a SOE dev trying to find people that use those things, Id put up a catch feature that looks for "/warp" inputs and logs those things as well as user information etc etc.

Any thoughts?

Yes. It would be mighty silly (as likely break one of those wacky laws about time travel and becoming your own grandpa) to catch the the commands you type in AFTER they've been sent and processed.

With deep thinking like this, how the hell are you NOT a dev?

Could you please post more often? And when you do, be sure so say /warp more often. We all enjoy it.

whats the matter? Cant one just ask a fucking simple, undocumented, question without being confronted with this " My dick is so shiny and much bigger than yours, come look at me" attitude as a response? wtf?

no soe cannot see what u type into the chatwindow because mq uses something called detours, it means that we are getting the commandline before eqgame is getting it, thus we can have it execute our commands, /warp not being one ;) but anyway, even if u dont have mq loaded, and you type /warp and press enter it will not be sent to the server, its all taken care of on your client and the client will not send commands that are not valid to the server.

As a matter of fact commands that are not needing server interaction are not sent to the server either, but most of them are, like if you type /sit it will send a note to the server that u are sitting down.

Or if you type /afk it will send a notice to the server that u are now afk.

If you type /unload it will not send a notice to the server that you are trying to unload something, because there simply is not such a command in eq... its an mq command that we put in the commandlist when u run mq... makes sence?

My newb mistake:

Not to say that you won't get caught using MQ2, it's very unlikely if you are smart about what you do with it. Most things on the client side(and even stuff on the server side) aren't really watched. Unless you make a SERIOUS mistake, SOE will never see it.

I was standing in PoTranq one time messing around with the rez macro. I decided I wanted to edit it a bit. So I went through and commented out a bunch of lines. Now I was an idiot, but I totally forgot to use the correct comment character.(the "|") And I used the single apostraphe ' instead.

Well in EQ the single apostraphe is equivalent to the /say command. So the next time I ran that macro(standing next to the time dial in PoTranq) I spammed about 50 lines of Macro code to the 20 or so people standing around me.

That was 6 months ago. For the first week I expected to be banned the next time I logged into my account. After that I just let each day go by and still nothing has happened.

This isn't to say that you won't get banned for using macroquest. Expect it every day and you won't be surprised. This does illustrate that with luck(and a little bit of intelligence) you can use MQ2 to have fun, play a fun game, and not worry about the stupid stuff.

Scuba, I did something like that myself once. I had just downloaded EasyUO and my friend sent me a script for training skills on a boat. Well, something was messed up and EasyUO didn't read the script right so my character just ended up sitting there spewing out about 1500 lines of code. Fortunately, I was in the middle of the ocean with nobody to see what was going on, but I still felt pretty stupid.
