General Question

I've been overseas these past 5 months working. I havn't been able to access EQ or keep up on MQ2 due to firewall restrictions.
With that said, let me ask this question.
When i got home the other night, I downloaded the latest MQ2 source, compiled it, and successfully ran it on my computer with everquest. Well today, of course, there was a patch....I tried running MQ2 and then running everquest and i get an incorrect client version error with MQ2. I'm assuming MQ2 is disabling itself because of this. I tried looking in the ini file to disable client version checking but no joy. So, i guess my question is, do i have to wait for you guys to release a new version of the source for me to compile and use, or is there a way to update the client info and offsets without having to do that?
Thank you

Usual patch changes need to get the new offsets and check for sturcts that might have changed. Your best bet is to wait for a zip to be updated.

So.... this question has been asked 1000 times.
If one where to do a search on the message boards you will see this question asked over and over and yet on every patch some moron ask the question again.
So.. for the 1001st time:
When SoE patches EQ it breaks MQ. When SoE patches EQ it breaks MQ...
Dont be a moron guys... search first then ask the question.
This shit is out of control....

So.. for the 1001st time:

Wouldn't this be 1001 and 1002? I wonder who will get 1018?

I do apologize if the question had been asked before. I admit that doing a search had not occured to me. I can remember MQ1 where client version checking could be disabled in the ini file. I figured it was the same case with MQ2 but maybe located in the source and i'd have to change some setting in the source and recompile or something....
Again, apologies all around....

If the last time you've used MQ, it was pre-MQ2, you'll find that while much has remained the same, much much more has changed. A thorough board reading is definitely in order for you.
Enjoy!

At least he knew enough about macroquest to know about how patches screw it up. He knew it would need to be fixed he was just wondering where the old override switch was. this is the most intelligent patch day post ever.

Maybe I missed it, but did read this thread, search the forums, and even read TFM, but still don't see the answer to his question: is there still an override switch?

There is no overide switch. That option went away when eqgame.ini was removed.
