intermediate files

Okay.. so I'm not too familiar with the VS6 environment... when I compile MQ, I get a ton of files that I'm pretty sure I don't need, but not positive... I think they're intermediate files that used to go to their own directory, but for some reason now end up in release. They all end in *.exp, *.pdb, *.lib. My first question is, are these necessary for MQ, or can I delete them (I don't remember seeing them in earlier versions of MQ, but I could be wrong). Second, if they're not important, is there a global (read: not project-specific) setting that I can change so that intermediate files are placed elsewhere?

Thanks

The files with the 3 extensions you mentioned are not necessary for normal execution and can be deleted.

(I'm doing this off the top of my head - using VS .NET, not VS6, so it'll be something similar to this)

To have them go into a different directory you will need to go into your project settings for each project

Project|Settings - General Tab -> Intermediate Files Editbox

and enter the folder (relative to the main project folder) where you want those files to end up.

Also, make sure the "Settings For" combo box has "Release" selected.

Glad to hear I can delete the files... bummer that it's gotta be done for each project. Thanks for the help
