I think that I might of had GM intervention...

Post by robdawg » Wed Mar 31, 2004 8:02 pm

I think while I was farming in EK that a GM killed my char and placed his corpse in the water.

Granted, I was AFK farming so it was risky to begin with.

But my char with hit with nukes for 550 from an "unknown spell effect".

Furthermore, it is beyond me how my corpse would end up in the water.

So basically the only negative is that my char had exp lose, but I am sure that I flagged for something if a GM really did catch me.

Guides and GM's aren't permitted to attack players unless they are acting as a quest NPC and unless you were on Stormhammer, you will very rarely (if ever) see a full GM acting as a quest NPC. Since the change a month or two ago, drowning shows the damage messages you saw.

A GM would simply freeze your play character and release you long enough to confirm you were macroing, then world kick you and throw a ban. They wouldn't bother actually killing you.

The unknown spell message tends to happen when you die from falling for some reason. Kinda a replacement for the pain and suffering thing. From reading things from others, the dmg the spell hits you for isn't necesarily the dmg you took from falling, but basically just a thing to finish you off.

You feel bogus as a unknown spell accosts you!
These are used as placeholders in the spell array for spells that are, as yet, unused.

Chances are the server/client got confused about what spell was supposed to be sent ..or, perhaps they made a mistake in the last patch (*gasp*!).

Either way, it's nothing to worry about ...it's no more important than the current horse bugs shit.

I play on TZ and actually that bogus spell accosts you thing doesnt give you and exp death (maybe only on pvp servers?) like you said you have because if that were the case i would have deleveled many many times by now. I like it mostly when it happens in pvp because no exp hit, no waiting for mana, and no pker gets muh lewt. PVP servers suck for afk macroing so never try it, whether its a kiting macro or what just make sure to never leave your computer unmanned when you arent in a safe zone.

GM Check

Post by draco » Fri Apr 02, 2004 12:19 pm

Get a good GM Check routine. I'm at work otherwise I would upload mine.

I just fixed it. I got it from someone very inportant to end the macro after the camp command. Otherwise, as I found out, the macro keeps running and if it makes you stand up. You stop camping. Honestly, I don't know why I still have an account because it ran for 10 mins, while a GM was in the zone. I found the bug however. I'll post it later on.

GM checks are pointless as you will only catch Guides with it, who neither have the tools nor the authority to find and ban (or otherwise punish) Macroers.

If a GM wants to be hidden, he will be hidden and won't be detected by MQ since their invisibility mode causes the server to stop sending packets about them to the client.

Funniest thing...

Ya know, I was in PoK the other day, at the Jewelcraft Erudites near main bank, where my friend (name not mentioned, 65 enc) was sitting behind the merchant (male merchant) AFK, I tried sending her tells, to no avail, : afk message, working on TS, will get back to you as soon as my eyes refocus.
Bought my stack of peridots... (looking right at unnamed friend) Saw the spell emote: soandso staggers as an unknown force accosts her.
emote: soandso dies.
Corpse right there, dropped her a rez, like waited ten minutes, she sends tell & says what happened?.... hmmm, sounds like GM intervention to me.... as it is POK

A GM event to kill a person macroing?

Hardly what if the toon was actually on but not reading anything or even had their chat window small so cant see mesages?

GM's do not attack PC's a cardinal rule. Cant have gods messin with the subjects. If there was any reason at all that a GM could attack a PC then we end up with something that is aribitrary because definitions of when why and how a PC can be attacked are purely subjective.

It is just not going to happen.

On my server sometime ago 2 guides decidee to have a duel end result they both lost there accounts. And there was no getting them back even with thousands of petitons asking for re-instatment of account and just loss of guide status.

SOE takes a very dim veiw of this and it will just not happen. If 2 guides can't even agree to fight then what do you think the policy is towards a GM acting out in a beligerant manner towards PC's.

I just came out of Cobalt Scar and am loaded with Cobalt Cod. Even with the stench of the fish i can still smell something fishy.

Why would you send a rez on to a toon that was afk?

Not likely they were going to accept the rez now is there?
But imagine that they were fortunate enough to be back in time to get the rez and wow even got the xp back.

You think a GM needs to cast a spell on you to kill you?
You think that if this happened it wouldn't take a pettition to get back the lost xp?
And finally a GM messin with you is not going to risk sactions on his job over a small kill. You would find yourself stripped naked back at level one bound in a spot where there is no escape but death.
