MQ2Map and on-map labels

Is there anyway to change the behavior of MQ2Map that removes the in-game map labels (ie-the names of the portal stones in PoK)? As it is, if I want to see where, say, the PoK stone is in a zone, I have to disable MQ2Map to see the labels that are contained within the base map itself. This did not begin happening until the recent re-writes of the map code.
I could always go through and move the labels to a different layer, I guess, but was hoping there might be a way to avoid that.

Ummm on sort of a similar subject.
Now i have been out of EQ since December and have recently come back. So I eagerly grabbed my new MQ2. Anyway I loved the map feature introed before I left. Anyway long story short - Is there anyway to turn the labels off so they just show as a dot until you mouse over them? It was like that before I left and all those names just make it immpossible to read.
