I noticed people changing the text of items linked in game, I was wondering how they were doing it. Someone said MQ but Im unsure, any help would be appreciated. Id like to know how to do it.

It's not done through MQ if that helps any.
But check over on some of the class boards, they have most of the information on what to do. But to make a quick reply
To make a link that doesn't link to anything:
45 random numbers/letters hereWHATEVER
I'm sure you can figure out the rest or check on a class specific board somewere, but no, this is not a function of MQ.

The windblade has this for link
Code: Select all
0025979-00001-00001-00001-00001-00001D752395EWindblade
If you change the name it still show the windblade when you click on it.
Nothing at all to do with MQ.

If you read the EULA for EQ then you will notest that what you are doing are wrong.
The link are all serverside (if you dont have the item) and will be logged.
Microsoft Wrodpad and ANCII standard are not equal so somthing in EQ shows up as a ! might show up as in wordpad.

Get it right... whichever you were trying to get.
ASCII = American Standard Code for Information Interchange. ASCII deals with numerical codes for text and control codes, for the most part.
ANSI = American National Standards Institute. They deal with a lot of other things, such as escape sequences and other miscellaneous junk. Raw text formatting stuff, mostly outdated, and who knows what else.
Either way, ASCII or ANSI have nothing to do with the little box in wordpad. That is all dealing with different fonts. The little box is a "standard" way to show a non-printing character. Most fonts have many different characters that print as the little box, because their creators were too lazy or stupid to make a printable character for all the possible ASCII codes. Just because it looks like a little box, doesn't mean it's the SAME little box.

The square is a Ctrl-R.
I also suggest you use the search feature of this site, as there have been several threads discussing links here.
