$gm and gm's detecting MQ

Post by Spliffeh » Tue Jan 13, 2004 10:10 pm

Can someone give me a bit more information about the $gm function?
I'm curious how reliable is it, etc, specifically can it tell if there's an invisible GM, or just visible ones?

Second quesiton, I am running a script that does alot of searching using the bazaar pluggin. IE my baz script might 60 searches in 60 seconds then it pauses a few minutes. Are they able to detect this load in anyway? Do I need to slow it down to remain undetected?

To be honest, I'd say you have about a 1 in 4 chance of $gm actually working.

GM: This has been beat to death more ways than I can count to 3.
It does not detect GM's using /hideme. If you can see them in a retular /who while they are in the zone, you will detect them. If not....no dice. Ready any number of recent threads on this for more discussion as to why.

BAZ: Any way the can detect it? Yes. Very easily.
Do they? Time will tell. I would not bank on this one going unchecked for long. It's too easy to set up on their end, and too obvious to see who's doing it. This is one of those functions that just screams "Hey! Server! Pay attention now...I'm doing something humanly impossible here!"
