Basic MQ troubleshooting...

Post by Imperfect » Tue Aug 13, 2002 9:02 pm

It seems a lot of people are having crashing issues and such. Here are a few things I do to make sure MQ runs ok.

1. Be in OLDUI... NewUI is very buggy although nice looking it will crash with or without MQ running.

2. Make sure no extra eqgame.exe processes are running when you look at taskmgr. All of you people that are using 9x something sorry haven't used a 9x OS is 3 years so I have no answer for you but, theoretically this should still apply.

3. Make sure you have the correct offsets. http://macroquest2.com/eqgame.ini

4. This should be expanded just this is what I can come up with off the top of my head in 30 seconds

2 suggestions... Old UI and stop using EQWindows..

Yeah that's it

Just make a shortcut to your client.ini on your desktop and change the Ui setting to False/True as needed when you boot.

There.. 90% of the problem solved.. the other 10% is buying a 2nd PC so you can code on one while running the other heh

NEWUI will crash with or without MQ. MQ has nothing to do with the NEWUI crashing.

Been using the NewUi since day one...coding my own windows(see UI for dummies) and not had a crash at all cept when they patched the UI code to default and my personal directory didn't have the Bazaar window update. Took all of 30 seconds to fix that.

New UI is stable...ummm...I don't give VI too much credit but I have yet to have a problem that wasn't a result of something I did

So anyways... next!
