this is not a path... it is only players talking to Absor about warrior issues

omg, they want to turn EQ into DAOC.

rofl, they took DAOC's meelee system and copied it almost word for word.

They want abilities (styles) that are avaiable in response to something an opponent does, like pary or evade (positional styles) and they want the styles to go up in power as you level. Finally they want the styles do take away endurance (the exact term AO uses) and they want the endurance cost to be replenished quickly.

Hmm lets see....

DAOC has Styles
EQ will too
DAOC has Realm Abilities
EQ copied them with AA
DAOC supports windowed mode
EQ copies them
AO has random missions
EQ copess them (ldon)
AO allows items to be linked in text
EQ copies them

Hehe no wonder I love EQ, it has something of everything

And once again paladins will be left in the dust. Sigh. Stuns that won't stun anything you are fighting, heals that won't heal anyone for more than a couple percent, inferior AC and HP to any other "tank" class except rangers, but without the ranger stand-off capability.... sometimes I wonder why I bother.

Stand-Off Capability?

Yeah, rangers can actually do respectable damage with arrows. Well, at least at the higher levels. A paladin has to stand toe-to-toe, no choice. At the same levels rangers are getting AM1-3, paladin stuns, their primary "weapon", become ineffective.

I don't think paladins have "huge" balance issues, certainly not as bad as the pure melee classes. Up the level limits on their stuns a bit (especially the epic of all things, 55 is ridiculous), give them either a better AC or increase the amount of pally only armor drops, a few more HP. They'd then become the defensive counterpart to the SK offense. Healing spells are almost there. Fix their capabilities against undead of all things! That is supposed to be their forte, but beyond 50 they fall far behind an equal level cleric.

Anyway, I know everyone wants improvements for their favorite class. I just see all these "class balance" issues being addressed, and leaving my paladin farther and farther behind. lol I end up using MQ just to keep in the game.

Well I guess we'll see a few more meleeing 2-boxers switch over to MQ... those abilities sound like a lot more button-mashing.

heh.. well i have a different outlook on pallies than you do mckorr... of course all the pallies i play with are time geared.. anyway, i don't see how you are complaining that you have less ac than all other melees except rangers.. you should have equal ac to sk's, and more than rangers and rogues...

but then again, paladins are defensive tanks, rangers are offensive tanks..

Paladins tend to have less AC than an equivalent SK, simply because a lot more SK stuff drops than paladin gear. For the same reason we also seem to have less HP.

However my point exactly. Paladins are supposed to be defensive tanks, but don't have the armor or capabilities (level appropriate stuns, etc.) to effectively do it. Sure, aggro is easy to grab and hold, but try surviving it once you do. At level 61 with massive buffs I can manage 5k HP and 1300 AC... and when the mob hits for 500 a shot I go down fast. And I've got the best equipment I can buy.

If it were me I'd add 5 levels to the effect of ever stun thrown by a paladin (bringing most of them from 55 to 60), and add some pally only armor drops. At least fix the drop rate in places like Hate, where I've spent a lot of time and haven't seen one piece of paladin armor drop since the revamp. Oh, and adjust the epic a bit, simply because for something so freakin' hard to get it should be better. But then you can say that for every epic. Very few paladins above 55 still use their epics, simply because dropped weapons are better, and that doesn't make any sense.

SK epic is harder. Epics are many expansions old. Start workin' on some nodrop armour from LDoN camps or somethin' man :) Trust me, pallies make uber tanks, just need the goods and the AAs :P

Yeah, I'll do that, just as soon as I finish working on MQ and MQ2 :P Right now I'm spending more time programming than playing, especially with trying to learn all the new stuff from MQ2.
