help?

Post by nukem419 » Wed Sep 17, 2003 4:17 am

I've been having alot of trouble getting help compiling mq. seems like every time i ask for help i get told too F##k off, do i have to be in some special club to learn how to use compilers? i realy want to figure this out, but not because i play eq alot <haven't played in over a month> but because i'm sure there are alot of other usefull tools out there that i could compile, and i would like to eventualy learn how to program. anyway i'm running win 98se been trying to compile in perl, but when i run this command "perl makefile" it seems like it takes off for a sec, but then i get a whole bunch of errors and i'm not sure what variables i should plug in with it. not asking for a step by step guide, i just want to figure out what the fuck i'm doing, i have to start somewhere mite as well start with mq. thanks
just pretend i said something cool and unique, I have no imagination

Programming requires a great deal of reading, research and patience. You have the interest, I'm sure you can figure it out :)

Create drama much? Please link the message where you asked for help and were told to F##k off.

Also, Use Visual Studio instead of Perl to compile the program.

Only qool kids can use compilers. So, F##k off.

I was just thinking the other day that we have made it too easy to compile MQ and that ability to search for, read, and follow directions is not a high enough bar to avoid annoyance posts like this one.

Manage this anger, bud.

funny... I know we have this question like once every week and sometimes more often... Are we stupid idiots? Is there anything wrong with our abillities to explain? What exactly is wrong with the "Sticky: new? read this in the MacroQuest::Help forum..." please enlighten me, and I will be more than happy to add further explaination in that post.

Shit, I even placed that as a link in my signature, and still theese kind of questions come up... get a grip, MQ is so damn easy to compile that this is emabarrasing...

figured out what i was doing, i was trying to compile it in perl for some reason, downloading visual studio .net atm and found a ebook on how to use it. I guess those who think it should be dificult are right, if everyone started using mq, and other programs like it it could cause alot of trouble for those who currently use it. and no i don't think it's too easy to compile, vs .net is 1.2 gig i believe? that takes awile to download, or you can spend around 700- 2000 dollars and buy it. most people are lazzy and want instant gratification, and spending that much for a program would seem insane<even though it may be worth it?>. I didn't need my hand held thru the process, i just thought that it could be compiled in perl. sry for causing more hate and discontent with my post i was just frustrated when i wrote it.

I think he was referring to getting the visual studio* compiler as being hard. Which it certainly is unless you are friends of nerds in highschool or people who are in college as computer science majors.

Visual Studio.NET Academic = free for students.

.. also there are about a million copies of VS6 flying around everywhere atm and it's only 400 megs compressed.
