HI, im very very new to MQ and am reading through the jungle of threads on how to make MQ work and in one thread it says you need VS 6.0 which you cant get unless you have 600$ or C++ which is a lil nightmare to nOObs like me who are trying to grasp at things like "wheres that MQ button at to start it up". my question is , why aren't the latest downloads already compiled and just set up as a link? i mean i am reading hundreds of posts where new people are asking questions and the replys are read the boards, well since most of the replys are read the boards then there are no real solid answers in an order where it could be understood well and the manual you have doesnt go into detail on how to download, compile, or copy scripts here into the script file etc, etc. the only post that came close to being helpfull was one that said to beg someone for a pre-compiled download LOL.

Seriously though, if you want to use MQ, you have to compile it yourself. I seriously doubt anyone who frequents these boards is going to send you a compiled version.

My gathered opinion about why Macroquest isn't precompiled is because: People who use MQ should hopefully be smart enough to at least learn how to compile the program. It's like a child lock on an asperin case. It's not a full proof way to filter out retards, but it definitely gets a lot of the frail at heart from hording over here and mindlessly using MQ to their own malicious intents.

The program in all forms isn't totally easy. With no programming experience you will struggle with learning it to start (a bit). Once you begin to realize the ideas behind it though, it becomes easier and easier to the point it's cake. I think what the Macroquest dev team is trying to say indirectly by requiring you to compile it is: "Come here to learn, don't come here to download a quickie addin for EQ to make life easier and then complain to us when it doesn't work!".

Note a couple posts talking about downloading a trial version of C++ to compile the program. This should be a simple enough solution to your problem!

Oh, and advice.. Don't come here as a N00B, come here as a student wanting to learn! It sounds better at least :)

As a noob filter, posting the source only, is a lousy filter. I used MQ pre-LOY and when I came back to EQ last month it took me a whole 10 to "find" VC6.0, and figure how to build a workspace (ATTENTION NOOB's that was a hint). It s a small hurdle that people should be able to do.The developers put in alot of work, as users we can donate and do a bit of the foot work ourselves.

Flash..... noob filter is not what its all about. MQ does not work out of the box. Even if we gave away the binarys, users must write scripts to get anthing out of MQ. This whole project can not be spoon feed to endusers and the MQ comunity is not going to try.

even if a noob filter is not what it's about... just because you compiled it yourself does not mean you weren't supposed to be able to do it.
