Not sure if this is something new (regarding walk speeds)

...........But when I was testing out run speeds in pok (while waiting for a res) i noticed that with run2 its:

0.84 (while running).
0.65 (while sneak/running)

0.46(while walking)
0.51(while sneak/walking) <--- its actually faster to SNEAK walk than it is to walk? wtf is up with that? or has it always been that way?

Anyway, just thought that was wierd :P and now that im actually paying attention to it, i do see the slight speed increase! thats insane!

Anyway if anyone knows whats going on there or has an explanation feel free to write it :P thanks!

Oh speed is still client side?? Nonetheless, why am i walking faster with sneak on? hehe, would it have something to do with MQ? I dont use hacks or anything, just the advanced /who list of MQ and occasionally the bard twist macro :P

Anyway, whatev :P just wanted to point it out..just thought speed was server side since the speed hack was intro'd.

I 'unno :P

speed is client side... an explanation can be like this:

anything that can chang each millisecond will be client side. this is because they already blow enough processor power just trying to keep people from combining more than 2 tmies every second, imagine trying to check locs 40 times more than that. it would slow the game down so much it would be unplayable, unless they invested millions of dollars into new bandwidth and servers. hence, the speed hack has occured, and will likely occur in eq2 also...

lol, talking about runspeeds..
I used to race my friend with bards..
both 60 bards, same drums ect..

I'd ALWAYS win, like noticably, I'd be out of his sight about half way through racing from the south side of S Karana to the north, and I was running a 450mhz with a ATI rage fury pro 128, he was running a 2.6 ghz with GeForce4 something or other... Just how my system rendered junk made me ran a lot faster.. always laughed about that.

Do they really do this? What happens if you try to combine faster?

right it doesnt register it at all. Just open a container and click it really fast a couple times and you will see that the message is delayed for not every click... this is becuase the combine problem.

Combines are hard coded at one allowed per second... this was done to keep MQ and such users from combining at a rate that is basically impossible for a human.

You'd think they wuld leave the combine in and put a flag up when someone was combing faster then every 2 seconds.....thank god SOE is dumb

heh, actually its good of them. think of all the users that they would be forced to ban, thus hurting their bottom line..

Actually, I tested this without EQ on, you can click the combine button faster then once a second. Just like merchants, they restricted how fast u can click the button, the merchant says "woah slow down there (something like that). but u can do it by hand. Therefore, it'd be hard to tell who's faking it and who is innocent. So the easiest solution is probably just to hardcode it out so u cant do it no matter whether ur cheating or not.

Hehe anyway, just something i've noticed from experimenting

one thing not to forget

As long as other players arent complaining about us, and we arent doing anything absolutely awful (such as the people over at FH and their /zone offsets) i honestly dont think they care that we are here doing this. Most of us who have MQ are the same people that have 3-5 accounts and have registered all the exapansions on them cause we are Evercrackheads, and thats valuable cash to SOE.

Besides, MQ is fairly tame. Sure, we can track, but there isnt a radar screen as in SEQ, so its not always perfect (walls, etc) and we dont publish exploits or cash combines (if there even are any left) so we really arent doing much other than tracking and tradeskills. Yeah, i guess some people afk macro too, but that falls into the "absolutely awful" scenario in the first section.

all of thats just IMHO of course, but i know lots of Folks on my server who use MQ, and none of us have even been approached about it.

Some of the people that use MQ are from FH even some of the devs. Oh also practically noone uses /zone it has just been a discussion, and chances are you will get banned for using /zone. Just an FYI for ya.

And why are you complaining about /zone its not different then you AFK macroing except the fact that you would have to make something to run from point a to point b rather than type 1 command and zone there.

So is it possible to set your runspeed? and if so is this implemented in MQ?
:p

Edit: Also, whats the command to find runspeed? I didn't see it in the manual.
