Changed computers and am now running Windows 7. It just won't compile. Anyone have any ideas?

we would need a tad more information than it wont compile. what are you using to compile it? any error messages?

are you able to compile anything else?

win7 works just fine with mq, 32 bit and 64 bit. Just make sure the location of the project is in a writeable directory, such as the desktop or your documents directory.

I am having the same issue. Visual studio 2012 express says that it isn't supported for my OS (despite working last time I used it a few months ago). I tried Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 and that says the files were created using a newer version and won't work (created by a newer version and cannot be opened).

I finally managed to get 2010 to run and build. Build works. Will try messing with visual 2012 another time.

also, make sure your running in Admin Mode, the read-only is disabled, ensure your anti virus software is allowing everything to work. Also be aware, VS 6 is no longer supported, otherwise you will get compiling errors from now on. Those seem to be the front runner issues for win 7 and win 8.

If your going to check out 2012 you might as well try 2013 (what i currently use) I havent seen much difference between the 2. But Im not a nuts and bolts kinda person when it comes to compiling. There probably is a major difference if your a pro, but for a wannabe like me, there is no difference, except its the latest version.

You need visual studio 2010 service pack 1 or higher or it won't be able to open sln files made for visual studio 2012

I just did a fresh setup on my comp with W7 64bit and a new install of VS2012 and updating it to the current version worked without any problems.

I had to do this because updating an old version (2010?) to 2012 did not work and everything here was totaly messed up, nothing would compile and uninstall/install did not help either.

This combination work's for sure :

Code: Select all

Betriebssystemname Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
Version 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

Microsoft Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows Desktop
Version 11.0.60610.01 Update 3
Microsoft .NET Framework
Version 4.5.50709

Installed Version: Desktop Express
