$gm is Broken

Just to let everyone know:
The $gm variable is
broken.
If you are relying on it in your scripts for any reason, it will
fail.
Normally it returns
TRUE is there is a gm in the zone, and
FALSE if not.
Currently, it will indicates that there are no GMs present, wether there are any or not. Clearly this is a bug. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up about it. This "bug" just bit me preety badly
(double banning), and I would like to give a warning to anyone else who might be in danger of being kicked in the head by it malfunctioning.
Why $gm is in the language at
all is somewhat perplexing, since MQ is not used for unattended macroing...

But since it IS there, I didnt want anyone else to be relying on its functionality when in fact it does not work at all.
Cheers.

Salutations,
Thank you for the information... did you submit a bug report on sf bug tracker?

Are you sure that it fails in all cases, not just some cases? Perhaps the GM was monitoring you some other way?

Yes, it fails in all cases. Under no circumstances does it correctly identify that a GM is in the zone.
And no, I did not submit a bug report, because for all I know, it is intentional... and besides, nobody actually reads the bugs in the sf bug-tracker.

LOL I liked the pic. needed *some* place to post it, this was fine enough.
I'll look at the $GM code... think the offsets in CHARINFO for GM is wrong?

Obviously. Gms do not show up in the mq /who either. So clearly that is what is wrong. Just like LD. Somone simply needs to actually rediscover that struct.
Its not a hard fix... just a rather important one.. with wather nasty side effects.

Um... WHY would it be intentionally broken? Does that possibility exist? That would mean Plaz has gone psycho and wants to get us all banned.
Or possibly that he figures its only value is for AFK macroing, in which case we should all smack him anyway for not telling us for the sake of people that play on servers that have a set number of active guides/GMs greater than negative one.
No hint to what server I play on.

It wasnt intentional. When one of us gets around to finding the fixed CHARINFO setup then it'll be fixed.

"Since I have been banned from EverQuest, I find I have got much more free time! I am more productive both in my professional and social life. I am aware of world events, and I have discovered the joys of countless other video games, as well as non-polygonial women! Thank you MacroQuest for giving me my life back!!" -JohnQ
The preceeding was a paid advertisement for the MacroQuest(tm) method of reclaiming your life from Verant. The oppinions are not those of the network or its affiliates.
