You can still run EQ in the OLD UI under Windows XP:
ntsd -G -c "eb 0055b48e 0;g" c:\path\to\eqgame.exe patchme

Call it an MQ workaround til this weekend...

[edited thanks to riz]

UPDATE : for the 1/15/2003 exe
ntsd -G -c "eb 0055C8A7 0;g" c:\path\to\eqgame.exe patchme

Will using this method still allow you to run EQ in windowed mode, either through EQW or through the new windowed EQ? I'd check myself, but servers just came down(again)

And slightly OT, but will the changes to eqgame.exe mean we'll have to wait longer than usual before someone manages to decode the latest offsets?

do you have to have the unpatched eqgame.exe to run it like this?

Zorg , its exe file structure changes so it might take a while

I assume you meant OLD ui plaz..

Entering windowed mode with Alt+Enter causes EQ to hang

Just a note, using this method does enable the Old UI, but using Alt+Enter to go to windowed mode causes a blank screen in the EQ window and the program stops responding.

Also, the last offsets don't work, so we'd need new offsets to use this. Ah well, just have to do it the hard way till Plas and Company give us a new MQ.

Thanks for all the work guys.

Aye Plaz, do you mean that we can find offsets for the OldUI and MQ will still work in it? Im not understanding on how just running OldUI constitutes a workaround for MQ otherwise...

I assume you were able to find this out because of your knowledge of the eqgame.exe? I could not have pulled that out of my ass =/

Any way to run this in EQW?

Native EQ windowed mode when using this gives me a black screen and a lockup. Any way to combine this with EQW so I can have EQ in a window? I usually edit my macros on the fly, so need to flip back and forth (or dig out my old 486 laptop as a remote macro editing terminal... hmmmm, not using it for anything else....).

Thanks.

Is this a command we use to sorta force a "patch" on the exe. Or a modification we make to command call to start EQ when we want to run the program.

Tried running the command from COMMAND window and had some issues with files not being found etc.

TIA Bolo

basically, you're ignoring the final breakpoint and executin a debug command. not a patch, need to run that command every time
