MQ2 in Linux

Hey there
I noticed that when this was last brought up, it was met with a lot of juvenile negativity about running EQ and the like in linux. Don't let any of this draw you away from using linux the way you want to. It's usually easier than you think, and I for one encourage everyone interested to jump in head first, because the more linux users out there, the more support linux will draw for all applications.
First of all, EQ is fairly easily run in linux using Wine. Refer to the wine appdb for plenty of help running EQ in linux. EQ runs nearly as well for me on wine as it does in windows, and it allows me to boot windows, which I loathe, almost never.
Running MQ in linux is even less difficult. For the simplest method, but one that requires one addition windows boot, do the following steps:
1. Download MQ on linux distro, and use wine to run MQ2Auth.
2. Copy this source over to windows distro with a flash drive or whatever, and compile the source using VC.
3. Copy it all back over to linux, and run it.......
4. Enjoy
You will come across grief trying to compile the source in linux because of the way it's packaged, so just do it in windows, and use it in linux, no biggie. Once running in linux, mq has no problem interacting with EQ running on wine. I hope this will encourage more experimentation in linux.
