MQ no longer works after gvim install and mks deinstall

Post by javaspot » Wed Dec 11, 2002 12:10 am

I was running MQ just fine. While I had EQ up, I deinstalled mks and installed gvim. Now MQ no longer works. It does not hook into EQ anymore.

Gvim did install some OLE hooks. MKS put up some error message that EQW (I think) was using one of the MKS files. I told it to ignore that error. (Gvim is a VI editor. MKS is a set of UNIX utilities). I've uninstalled gvim but that didn't seem to fix anything.

I have rebooted multiple times but I'm at a loss about what to try. Does anyone have any ideas about what could be going on? Is there anyway I can turn on debug messages for MQ? I've run EQ outside of EQW but MQ is still not able to hook in. I have the latest offsets and everything and was successfully running MQ just 3 hours ago. Something with the installs/deinstalls hosed my system. I don't get any error messages or anything like that. I have the MQ icon in the tray but I do not get MQ capability in the game.

Thanks for any help.

EQW still works so somehow it is still able to hook into EQ even though MQ is not.

MQ was getting perl from mks

Post by javaspot » Wed Dec 11, 2002 12:23 am

Doesn't that always happen. Just as soon as I ask the question I find the answer.

It looks like MQ was using the perl from the MKS directory. So when I deinstalled mks, MQ had some problems because perl was gone. I used the NonPerl EqLib.dll and everything's fine now.

Hopefully my experience will help others in the future avoid the same problem.

Salutations,
LOL... I would suggest doing that in most MQ starting/hooking problems. Then try and use debug spew / ntsd with MQ/EQw

Where can I get the nonperl version of eqlib.dll? Once I find it do I put it in my program files\sony\everquest directory, or the directory of my macroquest files? :?:

Thanks man got it all set up. I even worked out my own bard kiting macro that lets me run around the mobs in circles and hit em with spells. I wonder how well this would work for a wizard with jboots....... *cackle*
