Newbie trying to wrap his brain around ISXEQ

Okay - I've managed to compile MQ2 and ISXEQ with zero errors. I'm *assuming* that I need to copy the C:\MQ2\Release\*.dll files into c:\program files\innerspace\extensions (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong - I haven't been able to find any information on this step by googling)
I ran IS, then told it to run EQ. I was able to get the console within EQ - and typed "ext ISXEQ"....
....when eqgame.exe promptly crashed taking IS along with it (though I'm guessing it was more ISXEQ took down IS which took down EQ).
If there is a post or webpage that explains what to do after compiling ISXEQ - or something explaining a fix to what I'm experiencing - please enlighten this poor Evercrack addict. I'm planning on trying it again, seeing if I can use the IS log command to catch what happened, and go from there...
Anyways - thank you for suffering a fool.... Any guidence would be appreciated.
