compiling problem:"Cannot open file ..\MQ2Main.lib"

Hello everyone

I have been reading a lot of posts here and been trying to compile MQ2 via several ways, including " VC++ 6.0 ", " VS .NET 2003 ", and " Microsoft Visual C++ Toolkit 2003 + Microsoft Platform SDK + eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 " , but I always meet the same problem listed below.

I followed the instruction exactly, eg. run MQ2Auth prior to compiling. Also, my computer OS is Windows XP, which has no antivirus program istalled.

Now I really don't know what I can do any more. And file transfer via internet isn't allowed any more in VS .NET trial server. Please help me ~~
I can't live without MQ2 playing EQ any second longer =(

I added a link on [[MacroQuest2:Compiling]] "Troubleshooting" section
which is titled with "LINK : fatal error LNK1181: Cannot open file '\EverQuest\Mq20328\Release\MQ2Main.lib'" and "MQ2Data.cpp(636) : error C2001: contains a new line character in constant" and "MQ2Data.cpp(637) : error C2143: syntax error : missing ')' (before 'if' )" . Although I have no idea how to deal this at all.

Yeah.

But this problem has bothered me for a long time since I started to use MQ2. I used to compile it on VS .NET trial server, so I could still play EQ with MQ2 while this compiling problem remained on my computer. But the server is odd now, it's not able to transfer files any more. So I am really in no hope now.... :(

OMG, dont_know_at_all you own !!

It works !!


This is the detail to solve the problem based on what dont_know_at_all suggests :


1. Open MQ2main/MQ2data.cpp with notepad and set encoding type as UTF-8

2. Search the problematic line by keyin phrase :

pDefault=strtok(NULL

3. Modify the line to

pDefault=strtok(NULL,"|");

( "|" is ascii character 166 (0xa6))

4. Save


Then you're gtg.

I hoping to get a chance to analyze this an fix it correctly. Anyone can jump in an help.

Is there really a need for a somewhat unprintable ascii character in that string?

Do we use it anywhere else?

can always do something like:
