I was asking more along, was it deleted because it didn't work? Because it did work for others, or was working? I just do alot of reading from the manual and this site and it was simply another thing to try, that may help me as I went along. Thank you though, cronic.
Peace

Lax doesn't want to rehash this, but I will give you my view on it. MQ2 has stated many many many times that the only two compilers that are supported are VC6 and VC.NET. The "free online" tools are neither of these.
Second, those threads gave you instructions that did not work, were not current and bred idiots that would just post more "hey my free compiler didn't work, can you help me fix it?"
Third, I personally don't want some 12 year old script kiddie like this guy having access to MQ2

We had this long discussion on IRC the other day. The way I see it, if we're just telling everyone how to compile it for free anyway, what's the point of not distributing the binaries in the first place? We're not stopping anyone from getting it. If someone wants it, they can follow step by step instructions right on our boards, or ask a friend, or even pay someone to do it (there's plenty of people who do that right now). If we're not distributing binaries because we're trying to keep usage down or trying to keep MacroQuest on the down-low or obscure, then why are we telling everyone exactly what to do? Seems silly/two-faced to me. Shouldn't we just tell people who already have the tools what to do? At least that way it would be somewhat obscured. In fact, we also discussed dropping Visual Studio 6 support to make it even more obscure. We have several lame hacks just to support VS6 in the first place, and even if it werent for that, when we update for Visual Studio 2005 we'll probably end up breaking it for VS6 anyway.
So there you have it. We're elitist assholes, go ahead and say it. I'm sure there's all kinds of fun rumors running around anyway. I just think its BS to say we want one thing and do another.
Besides, EQ is dying (you dont have to take my word for it, the scheduled server merges can speak for themselves) and it wont be much longer before MQ is down to a couple hundred users rather than a couple thousand -- downloads are already way down .. 5400 downloads of a version from october (pre-EQ2/WoW) and only 2600 from early march.

So am I correct in assuming the only way to Compile MQ2 now is to buy a compiler?
I'm not a very rich person, 22 married baby due in 5 weeks. I used the free compiler because, well free I can afford. I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2003 on my computer, but I can't recall off the top of my head the 6 or so steps that compiled MQ2.
Is there currently no free way to compile?
I don't mind anyone being elitest, because those are the people that drive others to do better. What I do mind is a free program that can only be used by paying for another program. Its like giving somone that can't afford tools a kit for a do-it-yourself mercedes.
Any info I can get on using my current applications to compile MQ2 would be much appreciated. I can be reached at
firebusht4@hotmail.com or on AIM as SadyeeSZ
Thanks for any replies whether they be positive or not.

You're missing the point. We're not looking to force people to buy a compiler to compile macroquest, we're looking to keep it how it should be. If you can figure out how to compile it for free, go for it. Personally, I dont think we should discuss how to compile it at all, let alone free.
Telling everyone how to compile it for free is "sticking our hand in the crazy pool", and we get way too many people that randomly show up and ask how to warp. IMHO this community in particular should be for people who know how to compile...
Locking this thread, and I will continue to lock any threads posted asking about compiling for free. Sorry, not trying to be mean or target anyone in particular, it's just that we need to keep certain types out of our community as much as possible.
