That's about the ONLY thing they could possibly do to make me play again. I wouldn't even cheat!

Forgive my ignorance.
By Classic only do you mean original norath and no expansions?

I would assume so. Pre Kunark era.

This is nostalgia gone crazy and sounds utterly boring. It's like watching a movie that you've already seen over again -- it might be somewhat amusing with a large group of friends, but basically you know how it's going to turn out.
It's like getting out the old atari to play PacMan ...yea, it's cool for a little while, but then you realize that it's a lot more fun to get out the XBox and play something new and cool.
...now, if they wanted to just have the old world (pre kunark) with new content and so forth, that might be cool ...oh wait, we have that! It's called EQ2.

Well, I'm of the variety that dislikes post-Velious expansions. So, while you can compare old world to Atari and current content to an XBox, I can say that I have never enjoyed the XBox in the first place.

It was an old-world only server called Discord. If you died (it was full PvP), your character was gone forever. I was always a fan of hardcore Diablo 2, so I enjoyed it. A standard rules, old-world only server (better yet, Kunark and Velious included), would rock my face off.

haahahahahahahahah
yeah I think "Classic" only eq server would be somewhat retarded seeing as the game was kinda retarded back then too.
but you could agrue that you can "beat" the game quicker in that case and not have ot play as much. shrug whatever. i wouldnt login to a classic only server myself.

Yea...that's my whole point too ...I already beat that game (ie, EQ Classic). And the thought that SOE would spend time/energy working on something like that while I'm spending money playing their newer games pisses me off.
But, maybe I'm like the only person that hates to play single player games more than once too. Hell, I won't even play alts on MMORGS because I hate playing the same game more than once ..lol.

I don't see EQ as some kind of linear progression that you can "beat", although you can certainely play that way (as most of you do, apparently). The onle way for me to win at EQ is to reach the apex of my hacking potential with that game, and I'm almost there

I voted yes, but I can't deny that I always have enjoyed kunark. After that, it just turned into a big timesink.
