Macroquest vs ShowEQ?

With all of the "enhancements" you have made into macroquest, havent you in fact created a windows version of showeq? I dont know much about SEQ but does it do alot more than MQ does? Seems like you have opened up SEQ information to the masses. I have a feeling that when Verant hears about this they will be all over it like white on rice. This program and the things it can do almost seem too good to be true...job well done plazmic.

Funny you should bring that up --
I used to work on the WinSEQ project and have already discussed this area with Plazmic :)
SEQ provides maps with the land layout and exact mob spawn points
MQ provides the loc of a mob, you still have to find it manually
SEQ provides alerts to tell you exactly when a mob spawns and to track the spawn time
MQ does not
SEQ provides the ability to view spell effects with the detailed duration
MQ does not
SEQ does not provide the ability to macro trade skills
MQ does
They are basically 2 completely different animals. As long as plazmic doesn't add in a DX based mapping system to integrate into MQ and a complex alert system that constantly watches for MOB spawns, I don't think we have to worry about Verant conspiring against the project.

Hi
Uh, i vote for a WinSEQ too :)
Im always sitting and looking up maps, ect. on my laptop, while playing on my desktop... It could be great if the proggy could run on my laptop, and keep my desky free for the game :)
Domosan -> You would be top-number-one if u could finish ur project :)
(U share the top-number-one seat with Plaz og Lizzy :))

Yes they are completely separate - & I see me running Macroquest & Showeq side by side. Macroquest will do all the bot buffing, skills building & hopefully getting PP as and when other "mature cheese" exploits are discovered. (Of course if anyone knows of any, pls feel free to send me a private msg!

)
Superb product m8 - Ive not yet tested functionality, but it looks great - Ive used Xylobot b4 and this does appear to be easier to work with (& free!)
In mean time, how can we help you in future development? Im not going to be any help on programming side, but happy to get stuck in with the macro scripts, or finding out information (e.g. spawns, merchant costs - whatever you need info on). Im sure like me there are plenty of people willing to help in whatever little way we can!

The WinSEQ project was abandoned, and with good reason.
Verant didn't like the idea of SEQ for the masses, preferring that it remain in the Linux domain where they feel less of their users are competant. As such, when WinSEQ was around, Verant got into the practice of changing their offsets VERY often, thus making the SEQ and WinSEQ community release an update with the correct offsets and decoding information on an almost constant basis.
Since SEQ has left the Windows community and is purely in the Linux domain now, Verant hasn't shown much interest in the project. Yes, they still dislike the idea, but they feel that not a large enough portion of users have access to it anymore for it to be a major concern to them.

It's true there will never be a WinSEQ released to the public (for the exact reason domosan stated). But that doesnt mean it has been abandoned or not in use anymore :)

I was simply referring to the original WinSEQ project that was open source and public domain

if you ONLY want seq to keep you from getting lost then you can compile showeq under cygwin in windows. it will work fine for what you want. what you CANT do in windows is decrypt any of the really cool packets because there is no windows binary for libEQ.a (well, none public).
