First off, let me say I'M NOT INTERESTED IN LEARNING HOW TO DO THIS. This goes beyond some imaginary, arbitrary line that I have set between "aiding" and "cheating", so let's not actually post how to accomplish this.
My question: I was in a channel on my home server and a few nitwits started talking about how they could see what a mob was carrying and what loot it had before killing it. They also mentioned some silliness about being able to Harm Touch endlessly, and warp. Warping I know exists, tho I don't use that either, and I do remember some hack-site advertising infinate HT usability. However, I've never heard of being able to see what a mob has as loot only what it had in pri/off...is this a vicious myth or is MacroQuest actually capable of this? I thought loot was held server-side until you actually loot the mob....*boggle*

Oh, and the Primary/Off-hand thing only tells you the model of the item, not the actual item.

A long long time ago loot information was part of the spawn structure, this was changed some time in 1999 if i remember correctly. Currently the item drop is figured out on the death of the npc.
I heard rumor that there was a way to refresh skills instatly earlier this year but afiak it was fixed right after god went live.

Currently the item drop is figured out on the death of the npc.
Considering some mobs carry visible weapons and lightsources, I'd say it's decided on spawn and only sent when you loot the corpse.
Just my opinion based on what I've observed.
Also, with a Pri/Sec model plus lightsource info, it's possible to determine if certain items are being carried based on known loot. But, going so far as to know exactly what will drop every time, no.

It was and i'm pretty sure is still possible to see on SEQ for example if AoW has a BoC.
Simply because if he is using a lamentation in pri/offhand it means it's a boc (same model)
things like that are possible, but that's about all

the only way to tell if aow has a boc is to get hit by him and have the hit type be "slash"

some mobs "wield" weapons without them showing up. Perhaps MQ can see this as "primary/secondary" who knows.

AoW most certainly wields, and any SEQ oldschooler will tell you you could see that

As a matter of if mobs loot table is decided at time of spawn or death. I'm going to say spawn.
Lets take Arch Lich in Ssra for example. When he spawns, he will wield the weapon he will drop if it is one handed. Blindfoe etc will not show. Tendonslicer will however. He will proc it on you during the fight. This means that item is decided to drop upon him spawning. Is this true for non visible loot? who knows. However, there are exceptions. Emp for example, currently alaways holds Sword of Ssra, but doesn't always drop it. Also sleepers tombs mobs that will drop primal proc it during the fight if they have one to drop that spawn.
As a matter of infinite harmtouch. There are 2 examples of it. One was shortly after a bugged patch, improved harmtouch AA would instantly refresh without needing any glitch. Within 15 min however, servers were dropped and repatched. There was another glitch that would cause harmtouch to repop. But you could only do it a max of 4 times in about an hour, thru the use of disciplines. I won't mention here exactly what it was cause I haven't played much to see if it still works and this certainly isn't the place to discuss such things.

What i meant was not that he didn't use it (he actually hit on 2 second interval too instead of 1.5 when using a BoC) but that you don't see him wielding it (like a million other mobs that actually show it).
