ok someone sent me all there UI and UI related stuff, I narrowed it down to the Char UI INI file.
This char UI INI works
Download this INI file
Http://www.di28889.com/UI_CharName_Server.ini
REPLACE
CharName with your
Character name
Server with your
Server name
copy this over to the main EQ directory
I will try to figure out why the EQ defualts INI Crashes the game
this is the UI that crashes the game if any one wants to help

Excellent getting it working again, that works for me, even for the problem I was having.
I eventually realized it would only crash when I was in windowed mode, or attempted to enter windowed mode. I also use /viewport. But your UI ini fixed it, great work. Thanks again, been using freq forever :)

found the spot that is crashing the UI with the Default UI settings,
it is the Sizable part of the window. I sent in a BUG report. hope they will fix that soon, I love the sizable part of it
to fix you need to edit the EQUI_ShortDurationBuffWindow.xml line 1494
<Style_Sizable>true</Style_Sizable>
to
<Style_Sizable>false</Style_Sizable>

Loaded this UI up, seemed to be running fine.. hit ALT+B to bring up the buffs window (which I normally keep off) and it CTD.
I had made the changes from true to false as mentioned above before loading the UI.. thinking there might be other problems with the buffs, I deleted the *buff*.xml files and logged back in.. where I promptly CTD'd again. Closed EQ completely, unzipped the files from the UI zip, deleted the buff files, loaded EQ, CTD..
Anyone else have this working?

Not shore whats going on with yours. Sony fixed the Main Buff window resize Crash, but did not fix the Short buff window(IE song's) the Fix that I Posted is for the Short duration buffs not main Buffs

I was trying to copy file by file and reload the UI after each one, and oddly the new pieces I was copying over didn't appear. I'm guessing there's at least one or a few files that are required for a new UI to show up in game? So, if I were to want to try that method, what are the minimum files I would need to start with before starting to copy each file 1 by 1 (aside from graphics files of course) in order to determine which one(s) are causing my CTD? Also, I'm reloading the UI from the Options window/button.
Thanks

ah! thank you. I've been getting random CTDs lately due to UI -- but I couldn't readily track down the source. I was just looking for a new UI out of frustration.... thank you for saving this. :)

Ever since that "emergency" patch they did last week I CTD when camping to char select. No crash mssgs, just /camp takes me completely out and 1018's my toons. If I log into a toon with default UI it camps to char select normally, no crash. I've disabled resize on the short buff window as posted aboe but that hasn't helped. Anyone else having this problem?
edit: Turned out to be MQUI_CastTimerWnd.xml...not sure why that patch affected this but there it is.

I have tried the suggestions to fix the CTD problem and none are working for me. Are there any other suggestions please? Or - is there another functioning UI that is similar to Frequency? I really like the target window that show the classs of the target as well as the distance.
