Taag claimed to only use the program as a preferred UI. SOE stated that it was aware of many players who use the UI. They also admitted that the extent with which this program can be used as a cheat is debatable
rofl... really made my day...
Would love to see an official sony representative claim that its ok to use MQ2. No one? How strange...

Just so nobody is confused or in the dark about the final word on this issue from NKOV on Xev, please refer to our public page.

I myself have never used any program alongside EQ except for Magelo since my style of gameplay doesn't necessitate it's use. Our guild never started with the idea of becoming uber, so the mentality of most our players doesn't fit with the need for cheat programs. We've emphasized friendship and low pressure gameply instead of competing with other guilds for status, ranks and uber loot.
The irony is that because we're such a tight group, it was inevetable that sooner or later we'd get to this place and these issues. We're a pretty large guild now after being around for over four years. While it's true that most of our present users are high level, none of us did it overnight. A high percentage of our officers and members are original founders. This is why the screenshot on Alla was a nice thing for us, even if it did get ruined with the MQ UI issue. /sigh Ah well.
It's unfortunate that this issue lost a few very dear officers for us, due to the confusion over how to approach something we've never had to deal with before, and in such a public platform. I think players can get so wrapped up in these issues that we forget this is a
game. I wish we could spend more time enjoying each other, rather than dueling over ingame controversy. This is part of why our guild didn't originally elect to compete with uber gameplayin the first place.
While we felt we had to make the call, and truly do not advocate the use of third party software like this, we also don't hold issue with those outside of our guild from a collective point of view. Please keep in mind that our guild was forced to come to a decision and act on it. I personally know several people outside of our guild who use this program who are fine people that I enjoy grouping with. I just don't feel it's my job to sniff out these things and I don't look for trouble.
Thank you for monitoring our situation and helping us to get a better understanding of what this program does so that we could make a better decision regarding our interpretation of its use. Your site was invaluable to us. /salute

You don't have to want to be uber to use MQ2. Most of the feature included in the stock MQ2 should really be in EQ1 anyway.

Don't read so much into it. Perhaps you are correct about how MQ is in the game as it is today, but look at it from our point of view four years ago when the game was completely different. I didn't say that to make any judgement about your gameplay at all. I was simply giving an illustration of our guilds mindset when we wrote the charter and about the types of players we attract. We take people in at very low levels...true newbs as well as seasoned players, so we end up teaching most players about the game now. If we ourselves don't regularly practice the use of these games, and in fact don't even know much about them, the players we train likely won't either. This is simply why we didn't know much about this program in the beginning.

Yeah, I can see that. I was saying it as if you were judging others. Just stating the facts

i think it might have been Cestus Dei's site i was looking at when they first killed OMM and the screen shot had a few pets in it and had the owners name under it.
