Everything with this macro works great. Though there are a few differences that I haven't quite figured out how to make work.

Before, I was able to issue commands to the bot through IRC. With the this fixed macro, I am able to reply in IRC, but commands issued through IRC simply aren't working for some reason.

Is there a setting in the ini that I can change that will make the bot listen to the IRC channel for commands? My current settings are below and don't work.

Code: Select all

[CORE]
AnchorRadius=6
ChatIn=IRC
ChatInChannel=IRC
checkname=off
MaxLootRadius=50
followmode=1
IgnGroupList=duck|say|tell|group|cmds|trade|run|backstab|taunt|evade|slam|bash|kick|flyingkick|disarm|traps|puller||
ListenChan=IRC
listenchat=on
listengroup=on
MountItem=Name of Bridle or Drum
MaxTargetRange=250
movetomode=1
relaytells=on
trap=off
Verbosity=9
DebugList=None

I haven't tested dark_matter's posted mac but with my own I seem to be having the same problem he illustrated with the way Genbot is loading commands, shortcuts, and master lists. As a result, I have tossed in a bogus entry for the first and last in each.

I.E. I made entries in Genbot.mac for

/call Addcommands firstcomm
and
/call Addcommands lastcomm

which are simply

Sub Command-firstcomm
/return

Sub Command-lastcomm
/return

...and added two shortcuts to my .ini which are bogus entries as well.

When I load the macro I include two bogus masters in my list as well, with one being the first and one being the last.

I'm not sure why this bug exists, but since this was a quick and easy workaround that's what I am working with currently. This may actually fix your IRC problem Fixxer...I issue my commands from IRC just fine, but for some reason the bots would ignore certain commands. Then I realized it was based on whether they were the first or last in their respective .ini files / macros.

for those saying wow great this is working saves me from having to learn XYZ.

For god sake, RaidDruid and Advbot are lightyears ahead of this bot macro!

Because I'm trying to impart some knowledge those less informed or too lazy to realize what they are missing.

Advbot = Caster Macro..
RaidDruid = Caster Macro..

I haven't tried RaidDruid, but it sure doesn't sound very useful for doing melee (Monk, rogue, warrior, Bard) functions that operate on commands...

Monk MonkHelper
Rogue Rogue Helper
Warrior Lazytank
Bard Partybard

ALL of those will far surpase the ability of genbot.. and if you actually read the threads on them they are extreamly easy to use.

Genbot is still better

While those are all fine macros, they fail to surpass genbot in their ability to Control the bot. It is also easier to have 1 macro that works for all of the melee characters than to set up 4 separate macros. Genbot is also easy to use and comes with a very user friendly description on the commands and how it can be used.

I feel that Genbot is best because it provides all the functionality that is needed along with the control that the others can't or apparently don't...

It's nearly perfect right now, and with the right kind of attention, I am hoping that it can be fully restored to it's previous glory.

Getting the Bot to respond to IRC commands is the only discrepency that I have found so far. Everything else appears to work perfectly.

see the thing for me is i dont WANT my bots to surpass the ability of genbot.
It's simple, it's fast and it's almost undetectable because 90% of the automation is in response to MY typed commands.
I.e not selfplaying which gives away bots.
And the way i set up my bots for the past 1.5 years almost is based on genbot.

redoing them all with new macros, which means multiple different commands for the same thing is not something i WANT to do.
I can do it, but why should i use 6 different macros when 1 can do it all and works :P

Your just being lazy.. Its going to be ALOT more work in the feature to keep genbot updated then updating 6 updated macros. If you wouldnt limit yourself to ONE macro your performance would dramaticly increase. Yes I started with Genbot moved on because it didnt do what needed to be done per class. Advbot is best caster macro hands down. Faster then Genbot, Updated, easier to configure if you have over a 2nd grade reading level. Basically Stop going back in time and move forward. If Grimjack came back again and put out a new Genbot I might look at it but I really doubt it could surpase the quality of Individual macros.

Only good thing about genbot was the shortcuts that let you fully automate a group... You can do that with combination of macros and blow your current set up away.

it is not a matter of being lazy.. it is preferrence. People still use apple computers becuse it is their preferrence. Sure you might think they are too simplistic, underpowered, whatever.. but not to the people that are buying and using them everyday.. they just do what little task they are designed for. Some of us dont care about how advanced, super uber automated flash wizbang other macros are.. we enjoy what we have and wish to continue using it. I appreciate your concern for us idiots looking to use an inferrior macro, but damned if it didnt do exactly what I wanted it to do.. absolutly nothing unless I told it to.. for all the characters I play, melee, hybrid, or caster. I dont care to use anything else because other then the developers getting a wild hair... still does that little task it is designed to do.. and does it well enough for me to enjoy the game.

Erm, excuse me mister smartass.
It has nothing to do with being lazy. I choose genbot over other macros available to all my difference classes (i looked at chanter/shaman macros at one point) because it's so simple. It does exactly what i need and nothing more.
I use afcleric for my cleric because in that regard it DOESN"T do well enough.
I prefer genbot because i dont have to run tons of different macros, some who dont support IRC for one, and others simply because they make the chars seem to "botty" whcih is somethign i like to stay away from.

If you like advbot fine, dont start telling me i'm lazy coz you have no fucking idea who or what i am.
Please take your flames somehwere else and if you have nothing to add to making genbot work then kindly STFU
