People who know what they are doing don't say that. They simply post the packet with their analysis. Since you have done neither, I think it's safe to say that you don't know what you are doing.

Ouch ... that stung ... I suppose I'm one of those puny little gamers who only gets paid nearly 6 figures to develop code for nothing.

Sucks to be me.

(I really need to learn how to spell ... or start using the spell checker in Opera)

I can't prove you wrong. But even if what you say is even close to true, you'd better hope you and your "little bro" aren't usign the same credit card, or he won't be the only one upset.

dravidiankayne wrote:oh the funniest part is, they weren't even my accounts! They were my lil bro's! He's gonna be so pissed when he finds out his accounts are banned for use of 3rd party programs!

And the next time you have a bad dream of GM's hovering over your head, maybe you should just keep it to yourself.

Show proof that you are right. Post your decoded packets. Post a tcpdump of the traffic if you cant provide decoded packets.

You cant just come here and post things like this without backing it up.

Post proof, or you will be ridiculed even more. That should be no problem for you if you are who you say you are.

"prove me wrong" lol

once a month someone posts or pm's something like "OMG SOE HAS A WAY TO DETECT ALL MQ'ERS AND THEY WILL BE MASS BANNING WITHIN A WEEK" or something even stupider, if you can possibly imagine this, like "OMG MY CLIENT CRASHED, SOE IS PEEKING IN MY WINDOW! THEYRE GOING TO BAN MY ACCOUNT BECAUSE MACROQUEST IS PREVENTING ME FROM CLICKING YES TO SEND CRASH INFO!!!!"

this isnt fucking communist china dude. this isnt the fucking soviet union. the KGB isnt coming to your house because you use MQ2. prove you wrong indeed.

oh well, carry on. it's fun to watch retards run around with a stick, you just kind of wait for them to trip and accidentally gouge their eye out or something.

sony doesnt ban per ip, many people play from cyber cafes. sony doesnt log whoever downloads mq as its not their forums. sony doesnt emplay hackers to attack people and DDOS them. Sony allowes you not to send crash info.

The reason why all your accounts are banned is because sony doesnt like your BS such as i dont like your BS, if i could id ban you too.

you just dont like mq and you want to scare people who dont know shit. if you were a real network engineer like you claim you would have posted packet dumps and connection logs. as well as memory dumps.

If he were a Network Eng. he wouldn't make stupid claims about how the servers would be top of the line, etc.

People need to be paid, this accounts for a huge chunk out of the income generated by the monthy fees, this includes everyone from the low paid janitors up to the CEO, board of directors, etc. Then there is that other very expensive portion of running an online game, bandwidth... this portion alone should be enough to have made a "network engineer" shut the fuck up. Since a Network Engineer should have a pretty good clue as to the cost of running multiple ds-1s and ds-3s.

Then again, I know nothing. It's not like I haven't worked for Sprint programming Frame Relay connections for new and existing customers. Nor as if I never worked in various NOCs fielding customer calls to find and trouble shoot their very expensive connections, provided we didn't already know about it and were already on it. I may not be a programmer, but I sure do know about about telecommunications and broadband.

I agree, show us the money... where are these supposed IP packets you are claiming to have trapped. Come on bright guy, I know a sniffer logs that crap, otherwise it's useless. Copy and Paste, you're a "network engineer" you can cut and paste, right?

Dude.. you have any idea what a CCIE is?

Eqjoe is a triple CCIE (Routing and Switching, Security and Dial/ISP). Eqjoe knows networking (not much else… but he has networking down cold)

I watch the client/server communication closely. I do this because it is my opinion that SoE would need some trigger event generated by the client in order to log significant or unusual game events.

With that said, let me just say that your understanding of what you are seeing in the data stream is wrong. If you want to understand whats happening, you must correlate the client state with the network data.

I'm not as pathetic as many of the others on these forums.
You are indeed correct, you are not AS pathetic, you are MORE pathetic. Your black helicopter theory is backed by no evidence whatsoever and you are misinterpretting a crash bug as a deliberate attempt to catch someone using a program. Get a clue. You leet skillz are worth dick unless you back it up with real information. Surprise, but many of us are professional coders and network engineers, we don't believe things just because Chicken Little is yelling.

Moron. You know, even if they discover who I am/what I'm doing, who cares. I'm over 4 years on EQ now and if they magically figure me out they ban me. So what. What do I lose? An addiction I can't seem to shake on my own. I'll get back my real life. That's why I decided to start using software like this. I wanted to see what was possible and what information I could get that was 'invisible' to normal players. So far it's way improved my fun in EQ, but if they ban me, good riddens.

If I'm THAT desparate I'll change ISP's, get a different IP address, and start again (I'll buy another character like mine and continue).

Sheesh, get over yourself.

Thx for all the flames =D That's what I love about forums.

I'd like to point out that I did not say they do IP bans, or even that they will do mass MQ bans. All I said is that they have the technology to do so!

Also along with that, all I said was "BE CAREFUL"!

I'm not suggesting in any way that people quit using MQ2, because that would make me a hypocrite. I'm just saying to be careful when using it. Since it only says the accounts were "suspended" when I try logging in, I'd suspect it is only a 3-day suspension, it's not the end of the world.

Of course, my bro still doesn't know why his accounts are suspended (my lips are sealed), I'm sure once he finds out he'll never let me use his accounts again anyways.

And who would be stupid enough to post their packet dumps? Assuming I were using some form of network cafe, etc, that would give SoE 100% fact about which accounts I am using, even though the IPs would be different.

So all you who keep saying to post my packets, you can eat crap! I won't provide any proof whatsoever, as to remain somewhat anonymous. There are, however, certain people who know who I am, and that's fine. There are also people who can discover who I am, and that's fine too!

Put a backdoor in my computer, do whatever you like! I have no encryption or password protection on this computer, because there is nothing of worth on it. If something bad happens, I format and go back to my daily life. So STOP PMing me saying you'll send me a virus if I don't shut up.

And Drunkdwarf, I am in the same boat as you. I've been playing long enough that all EQ really is to me is an addiction I need to get over. The only reason I use MQ2 is the same as you, to see things others can't, and also to perform simple tedious tasks, like accepting a Slaughter LDoN or Twisting my bard songs perfectly.

Guess perfection comes with suspicion.

You know, from this portion of your post alone your credibility goes out the window. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is pretty sure you are nothing more than a teenager living at home who has never had a job better than flipping burgers for the local fast food joint looking for attention and to make waves. Maybe you're not a teen, but you sure come across as a brainless kid looking for attention with the way you post.

Not to bright are you? But then considering that you probably match the above discription, that doesn't surprise me at all. Too fucking stupid, lazy, or both to do the editing to remove "incriminating" evidence is what you are, if you have done what you say you have done. Anything in text that you can post here can be edited, or hadn't you noticed?

See the reply above, it is relevant here.

No, actually stress, illness, heart disease, and other wonderfully painful and life shortening things come from being overly suspicious.

Man, does the fucking boogieman live under your bed or what? Does he wisper sweet nothings to you as you fall asleep? Or do you just get hard and spoog all over yourself reading the crap you post here trying to scare people?

I had a few beers with the boogieman once - he really doesn't deserve the bad reputation he has...
