dammit ..I said not to derail this thread.

Moreover, I have said at least 20 times in the past two years that you should not be using MQ unless you are willing to get caught.

AND, I even gave more information in this thread if people would read what I write! "There is no reason to freak out, and there is no more information that anyone needs other than what I have posted."

----------

Assume that MQ is not safe to use. That is the best assumption and is the best answer we can give you.

i don't see how busting down on MQ users would help Sony in the least anyways. the whole "logic" behind them not allowing it, is that it could ruin the lasting value of EQ for people... however i think they're doing that pretty well themselves atm. besides, if it weren't for MQ i probably wouldn't even be playing any more anyways. they should be thanking you guys :P

Ok.... Let me just say that this crap is out of control. Perfect example, new user shows up, downloads MQ2, builds it and fires up EQ. First question out of his mouth is :

"Where is the leet plugin that allows you to zone into zones which your not flagged'?

Look for yourself :

Joe, you have the idiot who posted to the web to thank for that. I'm fairly certain that someone who commented on that post mentioned that he'd made plugin allowing him to do those things.
But you're right, this is starting to get out of control, and I'm not sure what could really be done about it. That plugin obviously came from the place that we won't mention, so it would behoove them to find out where the leak came from. I'm sure they are as pissed about this as everyone else, and are looking into it.
Other than telling anyone who asks here about such things "We don't do or talk about that here", I don't know what else to do.

Thats funny coming from you, psychotik.

Thats messed up, someone else is claiming responsibility for writing the plugin on another popular site.

as to who leaked what, it was yet another popular site at this point, which requires no login or user levels like our board and others. The actual cpp file is being hosted and is freely available to anyone who can find it.

the dumbasses should have at least released it in binary if they were going to release it at all, now sony can have a looksie and disable some of the features some of us had grown accustomed to =(

for the average mq user, this means nothing, the plugin made you do things that are VERY noticable to anyone observing.

for the average offset changer etc, this also means not much, as it was never really a problem until now

it is still nonetheless an outrage whenever any "secure" information based on changing everquest is released to the general public.

in my opinion, mq will still be safe to use yes, but, if no server checks are added to what the released material is capable of, then performing those noticeable tasks will be seen loud and clear and bannings will start

in short, have no fear, its all good, just dont do anything retarded. also if you are going to do anything noticeable, wait until sony forgets about the hacking community and everything dies down

edited ps- the next few days or weeks would probably be a VERY bad time to afk macro, so dont even think about it unless you wanna kiss your sweet toon goodbye =)

Caladine: Did you miss the part Amadeus asked that you DON'T POST WHERE THE FUCK IT IS?

That was my question.

Topic: Ask here if you have questions regarding my latest announc.

Amadeus has probably said fuck it by now and isn't nothering to read this thread anymore. Keep it on topic!

If I remember correctly that plugin was made available in the IRC back in Dec. which was one of the reason for the big patch in Dec and the banning of some accounts by SOE. I could be wrong but I bet if you searched here you will find it.

FYI, Sony knows all to well about these types of sites and so does Google. You can't hide from that fact, so the best thing to do is don't brag about it to your friends and stuff.

I have a question, really just asking for clarification. My understanding is that no changes have been made to the source code, it is just no longer being made publicly available here due to some poor judgement calls made by people in the community. Is this statement correct?

Psy did write the plugin. Dah well.

I think you are right..

What? Of course MQ is publicly available. Are you daft?

It's patch day. They're working on it, oy.

Last I heard they were having crash problems and trying to track it down. While it was nice to have offsets within a few hours these last few months, it was a luxury. Be patient. :)
