Please do report it to the FSF. I can't wait.
As the owners of the MacroQuest.exe we effectively revoked the GPL associated, so it no longer applies. We changed licenses for that portion, just like we can change it to LGPL or any other license at any time as we please. This isn't a derivative of someone else's work, this is our own work. If we say MacroQuest.exe or MacroQuest2.exe is no longer GPL, you can't tell me otherwise. Furthermore, if the new license for MacroQuest2.exe was found on this list
http://www.opensource.org/licenses/, you wouldn't give a flying fuck that we changed it. Since it is not GPL, I do not need to give you the source. Older versions are GPL, and they are out there. I am not required to give it to you.
This is the end of the discussion, you are free to report it to FSF that we changed the license on our own software away from GPL. Like I said, I cant wait. What are they going to do, say "you must keep using the GPL if you originally used it"?

With all flamethrowers turned to "pilot"
Whilest I'll agree, the mq2auth thing is a royal pain in the ass... as a few of my late night rage-induced rants can attest to... I'll disagree that it's under GPL... Lax seems intuitive enough to be able to write a dll loader for the mq2main.dll... considering a majority of the dll separation was his doing... so I'd be willing to wager that very little if any of the Macroquest2.exe source was based on MQ's... and if it was... eat a dick and shove off, for continuing down this road will make this project disappear into the nothingness that was before Plazmic... Which is assuming, per Lax's latest statement that Macroquest itself isn't pulled from GPL thus releasing MQ2's exe from any thing which you claim it must be.... </rant>

Damn..wtf are you trying to do domosan?? I NEVER reply to flames or anything but this is fu*king stupid..who gives a shitte about the mq2auth thing? It explains how to get around it if u need to copy it..just do that and stop raising shitte to make this project shut down.
I know lax can be an ass (sorry but its true lol) but i agree with him completely. Im hoping he's right about FSF not giving a crap because i was happy to bust my ass trying to figure out how this crap works..and it felt good learning and finally getting it to work on my comp after they changed everything. That shows that I at least deserve the basics of at least running the program because I worked on it and understand it a little (even tho its said in plain english how to do it).
Bleh damn man..just let it go..design your own program from MQ1 if you want ..u dont need mq2.
/flame off

What made you change your mind about mq2 domosan?
this little post i found makes what you said
rather ironic
http://macroquest2.com/phpBB2/viewtopic ... ght=#11929
Anyone who knows me knows that I am all for freedom of information, but since you know that SOE is attempting to prevent MQ from being used, don't you think it's rather ignorant to post your proposed fixes onto a publically accessible board? You post how you fix it, Sony says "Hey, they're right, let's change that" and then you are back where you started.
Also, you might want to read through some posts on this board recently and realize that the general level of intelligence of the average MQ user is about that of the common moose (who, while not the dumbest animal around, still will stare straight at you while you line them up in your sights). So while it's wonderful to figure this out on your own (or as a group), giving out the information to the same imbeciles who brought all the attention to it in the first place is rather silly.
And, for those who I've insulted, don't waste your time flaming me, as I don't care what you think. I just don't want everything ruined for those people who are actually intelligent enough to use common sense when they cheat at a game.

This thread irritates me greatly.
Simply put, you're not getting the source to the executable or the mq2auth system. Period...end of story. If the reasoning is not clear to you, tough.
Report it away to whomever you want. We will defend our points to SF or whoever ..and, if that doesn't work, we'll remove MQ from sourceforge (again) and only release zip files every few months.
The policy is not changing, end of story. I'm fairly sure I speak for most devs in that we would prefer to remove it from public download entirely before allowing people to mass produce binaries.
