Well... they don't allow macroing at all per se... the thing is they just can't catch you unless you're afk =) if ya sit there and have a conversation with the gm who thinks you might be macroing, then surely you're not =) at least thats the mentality they have toward it, the only macroers are the afk ones... hah if they only knew how i shrink eq down to 800x600 on one monitor while i play ps2 on the other monitor =) lol

I like your post. I'm a developer and since I'm a developer it's 1st party to me and EQ is 3rd party to me? If so, since you have the source code and you can compile the code yourself then in fact you are considered a developer as well.
Take it from a AntiVirus point of veiw. If you are using Norton AntiVirus for example with auto update turned on and while you are playing EQ you get an update, everytime I get an update it causes my EQ session to minimize, now "though shalt not modify game play" , this is modifying may game play everytime since I can't see WTF is going on in game and have almost died because of missing a heal. Now I could get banned for that because the term "though shalt not modify game play" is way to vague.
Memory modification is going to be very hard to put in a EULA because of other 3rd party programs that can monitor memory space (ie. AntiVirus).
Hmmm

"If you are the developer, to you, MacroQuest is not 3rd party software. Party 1 is Sony, party 2 is the game player."
Its 3rd party from Sony's perspective, which I'd guess is all that matters since they're writing the document, and the natural assumption is that they'd voice things from their own perspective.

We was just poking at Sony with what is 3rd party, since it's all a word game that lawwyers came up with and only they know the rules of that day.
Read Microsoft's legal junk and you will enjoy it. If you can understand it then your doing good.

These EULA discussions are the same over and over again. There isn't really any point in quoting any of it since they can change whatever they want when they want. If something isn't worded correctly to bust you today they will change the fine print to bust you tomorrow. It's very probably only a matter of justifying the money spent on the lawyer and alienating the player population. I'm sure you don't read that document every time you log in, yet you agree to it. Running macroquest and somehow trying to justify what you are doing by reading between the lines of a EULA is an exercise in futility. You are doing something they don't want you to do and you know it. Buying the game and agreeing to their license agreements gives you two choices: Play by their rules, or be deemed a cheater. There is no other way around it. If you don't like it - don't play or suffer the consequences. If you want to change how that works, get a job in politics and change the way business works in America/Europe (whatever country you pay taxes in).
Or.
Just don't get caught and enjoy the ride. :)

Back to the original topic:
Matrrix wrote:Hey all. I've been reading up on this program and have a question or 2.
I usually use game commander to do my skill ups for spell casting but unfortunately I run into a problem with summoning items
If I use this program is it safe to use for fishing? Or is that a bannable offense?
Thanks
Matrix
Put this on a hotkey (without the use of MQ):
Then make your gamepad spam that hotkey #.
Adjust 20 to be the delay between casting and catching.. And change 1 to be the ability # of fishing in your panel.
/autoinventory was added a few patches ago and is part of EQ proper.

I've never read the EULA and never will and I don't agree to it anyway. Think of it this way you bought the license to use the program and you pay a monthly fee to use that license.
Where they would get caught in there own EULA is that they don't notify you everytime the EULA changes and for them to say a prudent person would read the EULA everytime he logs in would be unheard off (after the 5th LD in the same day). Because of this theroy there EULA is pretty worthless if anything went to court. Granted they have to right to not service you at there own disgretion.
If you are using anything they deemed against there EULA you can get banned. Use it at your own risk and don't get caught.

why the hell don't they just can the lawyer bit, and just rewrite out all the legal vagueness
9- Don't do anything you wouldn't want a GM to know about. If you do anything that makes a GM mad, you will be banned.
lol nuff said right there =)

Well said. Lawyers don't ban people.
Plus, it's their machines and their data. The only thing you own is the software and a license to use it on their machines and use their data.

"The only thing you own is the software and a license to use it on their machines and use their data."
BZZ wrong - You own the CD the software came on [not the software], you have the right to use it [software]. You do not own the software. Don't believe me? Read the EULA here:
http://eqlive.station.sony.com/support/ ... s_EULA.jsp
Under #7: "You may not copy (except to make one necessary back-up copy), distribute, sell, auction, rent, lease, loan, modify or create derivative works, adapt, translate, perform, display, sublicense or transfer all or any portion of the Software. You may not copy any of the written materials accompanying the Software."
Now *that* isn't about to change anytime soon.

Correct, I mistyped.. I meant you own a copy of the software, not the software itself.
My point being, is that you do not own your characters. SOE does.
