Zerix, take the corncob out of your ass.
It's gonna suck when one asshole ruins it for everyone (except the developers). Sadly the people he is trying to "help" will be the ones who will have a non-working MQ binary once the developers decide they don't want to update structs and mem checkers after the next patch.

Anyone acutally know the guy?
Anyone thought that he might be SOE in disguise??
Would be bright for them to do right? Kill MQ (at least publicly) by just pissing off the devs enough? No legal battles to fight, no threats to levy, no threats to receive... just one asshole that *EVERYONE* is pissed off at for ruining it for everyone.

Just ban his account and all accounts that post links to precompiled binaries on this board.
Regardless of what the OSI states THIS board goes by a whole different set of rules. Post your links somewhere else moron.

Zerix, you make me sick. You hide behind claims of "well the license allows it", refusing to accept the Dev's request. It's pathetic that you ignore the wishes of the people who made it happen. You're cowering behind the license as a feeble attempt to try and appear to be doing it for a noble cause, but in truth the odds are excellent that you merely wish to aggravate the devs.
Personally I'm all in favour of making MQ2 a private endeavour. Stop updating the public source, work on it as you like, but only let certain people have it. Take away their toys. Hopefully i'd be one of the people to get it, but if not it doesn't matter. This is a sad childish act on Zerix's part, and I support removing the source from public view.. One way or another.

Actually Zerix, obviously I'm not "on your side" and you're a fool for thinking otherwise. Sure, I quoted part of OSI's requirements for a license after asking a related question that you posted an unrelated answer to. Unfortunately for this reason we can't simply modify our license agreement to say that you may not distribute our executable. At least not while we're limited by sourceforge's rules for allowing us to use their services.
However, should we get our own server, we can modify our license agreement to require that the original work be 100% reconstructable from whatever form it is distributed in. Unfortunately for you, binaries will not fit that requirement.

What do you need in terms of a server? Hell I'll chip in, I know a great hosting provider. Donno about the source syncing tho, but I would definately donate. Would be nice to be able to get the files as they're updated too, rather then waiting for the zip

100mb quota at least, plenty of bandwidth, FTP/SSH access, web site.. web site requires PHP and probably MySQL. After that I can set up the cvs repository on new server and that wont be a problem

I might be able to manage most of that Lax, let me look into it

How's a gig of webspace, and 50gb transfer sound? Unlimited mySQL databases, php and perl. Problem is that's only a webhost, I doubt they'd let us set up a CVS repository. I'll shoot off an email and check, if you're really interested in doing this.

cvs repository is simply a directory, and initialized with "cvs init"

Oh.. I guess the server does need to have "cvs" package installed.

<-- n00b :p
Well I'd spring for the server if you want. I'm gonna do a few inquiries, but if the 1gb webspace/50gb transfer package is enough I'd be more then happy to pay for that and a domain.

Yes that's plenty. scrime is also discussing something so we'll figure it out. Also the other devs should pipe in and give their thoughts on moving away from SF. I know half of them hate being limited so

Plazmic, any comments?
Personally, I think moving away from SourceForge is "a good thing(tm).".

Hell,
Sounds like a good thing to me - I've not been much of a poster - thats for sure - but I hav generally written my own macros for MQ use, and occasionally use bits and pieces from what others have done. It took me a bit to learn the compile it yourself bit - but its really not hard to do - and if you can't be bothered to learn how to compile it - then you shouldn't bother asking for it.
I'd be glad to chip in for it - or hell, I have a hosting for my guild site now that I'd be glad to carve a new domain onto for MacroQuest - using Racknines hosting - General Reseller Package - current profile for it is:
- 600MB of Webspace
- 15GB traffic per month
- 1 mySQL database
- FTP Access
- SSH Access
- Telnet Access
Etc....
I'd probably have to upgrade it to the premium hosting package for the added bandwith - but that is a difference of only about $6 a month between my current package and the premium one - chump change for the most part.
If I can help let me know - drop me an email at
