Builder can build for live, test and beta.
VIP is completely separated from the builder.
VIP is not builder access.
Builder is the only viable option unless you want to update the structs and offsets yourself.

If you have money for donations spend it on builder access instead.

Ahhhh, i used search and found what was my problem :) (missing thoses 3 files) FINALLY compiled without errors. I am following the WIKI line by line even if i dont speak English. It will take time but i will do it lol.

Incorrect. The "Live" server MQ2 is very much still open source and that will NEVER change. You don't HAVE to subscribe or pay any fees. No files are missing.

The only thing you have to do is correct the structs and the offsets and it will work perfectly on any live executable you do it for.

Please do not confuse the online build service with mq2 open source availability.

We set up the builder for those people who do not want to or can not patch mq2 themselves to work for live (or who simply find it easier to just use it than to install visual studio). Everyone else is welcome to use visual studio just like before.

If you build for TEST or BETA executables no manual patching is needed.

The Trouble with all that is what offsets need changed ? ..Plus just renaming ...files test(test) and changing the date gives many errors on the compile. I casually compile when I'm to broke for one of the other compile sites out there or when updates are slow to get pushed and feel like I'm being punished for one ass hats bull crap.

So here i am...... addicted to using innerspace and mq2 and wasted all morning trying to get test to compile for live .......sigh....... I suppose i will have to actually learn what mq2 is actually doing....triple sigh ...

Either pay for builder access, which is very reasonable, and use that to build it. Or, pay for membership to a site that provides it built/bundled for you (like RG).

Just renaming the compile for Live when it is set up for Test is not going to work. The eqgame.exe is not the same, so offsets are different. You need to compile them for the ones they are set up for.

So this is probably an over discussed item but I can't find a definitive statement to support:

It appears no longer supported to build for live with the downloaded code and Visual Studio? I'm hacking the eqgame.h but things are just wrong.

I'm completely fine donating to builder, but it's sometimes fun or necessary to experiment with the core code.

The only source that works out of the box is for test. It was a fairly big change for me to move from developing on live vs test but it can be done. The major downside is testing your code. When you try to find the edge cases the only happen once every so often because your doing a mission or in raid or ...

I am making this change myself, as well. Recently took up plugin-dev for the first time since it was forbidden to use Test.

It is indeed a fairly big change - especially for things that don't transfer, or you've set up in Live but not Test.

Hopefully it'll all play out nicely.

I believe at one point EQMule said he doesn't mind handing out the live source files via direct message a bit later after a build release to some that require it for whatever reason, but that was a few months ago, not sure if its still an option. For you developers though, may be worth asking.
