Actually release time is:

((Date VI broke it x Ak'non population on MM server) + Number of days to Superbowl) + 14(IF Tampa wins))/ ( (Number of Plauge Mites in Kael * 3.14) / ((Number of times Plas has considered fixing, but hasn't due to RL commitments * Number of time Vox and Naggy have done the it))

Poster brings up a valid point. Sure the program is free and we all appreciate (and enjoy) it so much BUT, promises are promises. Gotta stick to em to look responcible.

Unbelievable

Post by Lord Yei » Mon Feb 03, 2003 10:01 pm

Has anyone ever been in a car accident, or become deathly ill?
Have you ever had your girlfriend leave you and take the dog???
Have you ever been audited by the IRS?

Bad things happen to good people...we should wait to see and not assume Riz just blew us off...there is RL outside of EQ...some of us don't live there, but it exixsts none the less...

Plaz.. take as long as you like matey.

The longer you take to get it fixed, the longer I get to play without feeling pressurised back into greenie farming and Grand-mastering my smithing.

Do I miss the /CLICK functionality? Hell yes..

Do I go out and make an ass of myself, expecting a unpaid programmer to go out and fix it for me now!? Hell no..

Salutations,
Ariain: Smurf -f word
Smurf Hut Building -<f word>ing

lifewolf: Maybe he's trying to get us to code it ourselves, there are times after one has started a project in which it reaches a point to where we no longer care for it. The project started very small, with almost 100d/ls a patch. It has out grown that immensly.

InsanityWiz: Of course you assist in it's development. It is that donation which says "People care enough about MQ where I shouldn't go out for ice cream tonight" and the like. There would be no project without users. Plazoo was the first user, and he may be the last. The project grew and I hear there are alot of changes going on with it ones that will make it MUCH better then before, and he has missed a release date. A release date is what? a place one randomly picks out in time and space where they assume they can get things done by.

Lord Yei: Rizzy does NOT dev MQ, he's a forum mod. He's not even an admin, I like to call him PR (private relevations, no Public Relations)

I for one wish I could code so I could help.. but I can't.

how many of you reading this can code? Could you try and make /click work or share ideas so we can get MQ back running at full speed? L124RD is 100% right. Plaz may be stuck, no longer wish to continue, etc, etc.

<Anthem music starts playing in the backrgound>

Point is that MQ is open source and Plaz shouldn't be the one and only DEV working on the project.

Are you going to let the Xlyobot folks beat us down? Hell NO!

Are you going to let the ShowEq folks have more DEV's than MQ does? Hell NO!

Are you going to fight the good fight and battle the Evil SOE empire! Hell yes you are!

Why? Becasue you are HARDCORE EQ Power users! you demand the best! you are the best!

Lets show them all what open source is all about!

Coders lend me your keyboard!

<cough> Erm....

Sorry I was on a roll...

Salutations,
AlphaBeta: I wish to amend your beautiful statement with a very wise phrase which is, very seriously, plastered on my bathroom wall: "Anticipation breeds frustration."
S_B_R: no no no... like this:
/em rises from his leather bound executive style chair, the coat waving in the new breeze created to wave the flag as all national anthom/motivation scenes must have. He shakes back his blue hair revealing the face of a newly motivated person and begins to slap the slabs of meat at the end of his arms creating a sound like a pistol crack. He lifts his right hand, pausing from the cracking and wipes a new found piece of moisture, begining to swim down his right cheek. He goes back to cracking his hands together, repeating the phrase "Bravo" over and over again.
This is why I am the master S_B_R... don't make me do it without using punctuation either, I don't want to have to do that to you...
Lord Yei: its alright

Hate to be the one to suggest this, but there is the strong possibility that all this bitching has convinced him to just stop sharing his work. If I was him, came to a place where I was sharing my hard work, and found people insulting me for not managing to make estimated release dates I had set; I'd probably just pull a cartman, "screw you guys, I'm goin' home".

He's been gone a couple weeks now. Grats on chacing away the developer with your whining.

and then there is this: "he's not pofesional". correct, he is not doing this for money, he's doing it to be nice. and you treat him like the guy that trains you once a week because he didn't give you the presents he was trying to.

You are 100% correct, he is not a professional.

Saying he is not professional because he did not meet an estimated release date, feel free to show me "profesional" game companies that meet release dates. The only ones I can think of, are games that are not worth playing. In truth, he is not professional because he si not doing this for income. He is a hobbyist, who is nice enough to share his work.

/rant off.

Stand and be heard

Post by Lord Yei » Fri Feb 07, 2003 8:52 am

Instead of focusing on the problem, lets try to find a solution.

Does anyone know what is really going on?

Do we have more than one developer on this project?

Is there enough documentation inside the code for someone to pick-up where we are now without an extensive amount of training?

What is the base language for the code?

How much of the internal workings of EQ would you have to know to work on this project?

Where can you get the EQ information?

Are there any programmers out there who know the language well enough to assist in development?

Who is lead in the project and what is the best way to contact them?

I want to help, but need info...

Maybe, just maybe, if you haven't pissed him off enough where he isn't going to do it anymore, maybe he is just working on it while all LoY is being implemented and have something for everyone by the time it finally gets rolled out.......... Just an idea.....course, I would go with the fact that maybe he has other important things going on in RL and just doesn't have time. Either way, there is nothing you can do, so just wait for him or someone else do it, or do it yourself.

You could allways switch to Xylobot if you want bot type scripts until (if?) MQ returns.

I am using MCS for my healer bot atm and it works a treat. Not as cool as my MQ casterbot but it gets the job done for now.

you fix MQ then, if you are so high and mighty. if you can't fix it yourself, you have absolutely no rigth to bitch about it, imo.

Xylobot works..... /click has always been a low prioity IMO. If I need /click I use Xylobot.

The state of MQ right now works great for me and I am happy with it.

With that said, I am conserned about the future of MQ. If Plaz is gonzo... called it quits, burnt out or otherwise too busy to mess with it, we need to be able to pick up his work if MQ is to continue. I fired up Kazaa and started pulling down ISO images for .NET and I will check out the VC6 build that is floating around. I am not sure how much time I have with the new job and all, but we need to start getting to know this code.

Time to put up or shut up dudes.
