just a thought but yeah if you are using /target to see or /face to face your target that is not in visible range then yes they could track that I have had an account banned for this which is why i stopped doing /face and target the hunting macros can get you banned if they have a /face or /target command. I only use /whot to find out info on a visible target

/whotarget doesn't really give correct offsets, the level is not always correct.

Macroquest is defintely a bannable offense, even if you are not using it while idol or AFK. Simply put, earlier this week, my server lost 2 of its best players, Zuez & Ikikgud (Ikik for showeq.......zuez for mq). I'm not too sure about all the details, but it kinda sucks to lose the best cleric and best monk on your server =\

:? I'm sorry but I fail to see how targeting mobs you can't see can be any diffrent than targeting something you can see. Only way at this time you can get busted is if a GM is watching you and viewing your screen. I mean unless your doind something really dumb they are not even going to notice you. Or am I wrong here and use of the /target command is trackable by other means?

Yup, MQ will get you banned.

They have scanners in EQ now that do EnumLoadedModules and look for "extra" DLL's and threads, and any extra will get you flagged. Not banned yet, but I think it gets you extra attention. Have this on semi-good authority.

Now quit using it and go away!

he didnt say they were scanning your processes.

he said they were looking inside THEIR one single process. there's nothing wrong with that.

"link /dump /imports eqgame.exe | grep EnumProcessModules" returns nothing.

Perhaps you have your MQ directory under your EQ directory? According to the EULA they can open the EO directory anytime they wish. If they see your MQ files there, busted!

Just a thought, place your MQ files on a seperate partition than your EQ directory.

Obviously you will not be busted proof, but why make it easier for them?

how about this... i have hotbuttons to /endmacro or sometimes start a common macro. they could see that if they wanted to without breaking the unwritten rule of scanning outside your EQ folder.

I just assume someone would know if they were doing that (sending my hotbuttons serverside) and would warn us via the forum.

SOE can scan your processes, determine you're running MQ or whatever else, and ban you without being in one OUNCE of legal trouble.

How? All they have to do is ban you and tell you it's because they don't like you. They're under no obligation legally to serve you or provide a service to you. They don't need a reason for banning you.

So, don't think you're going to hide behind the perceived safety of privacy laws :)

Those of us who have played for a long time will remember when they announced putting the scanning in :)

My thing about the EnumProcessModules was sarcastic. People are paranoid. If you can't take the heat, quit f'in using MQ -- don't bitch about it, just go... play EQ or something.

There's a shitload that SOE could do. There's probably a much smaller subset of that they are doing. If people were getting mass banned for using MQ, I think we (the MQ community) would sort of notice.

Have a nice day.
