there is usually someone posted fast eqdata.h patch or structure fix in development forum. And the most important thing is those are often worked as well. Yes, you have to become a VIP so you can access those forums to get real-time patch.

didnt know open source meant you needed to pay to see it.
No but it means we get idiots that ask questions like this one. Some people really have no clue what it means to donate to a project and receive a higher status on the forums.
If you want the source, you're absolutely free to browse our download directory for any recent source
http://www.macroquest2.com/downloads/zips.php
We do not have an updated release, which is why the download page says MQ2-Down (if you couldnt figure that out, you fucking asshole), but VIPs have posted their changes that made it work for them, as others have stated in this very thread. If you want access to THAT, yes, you have to donate (not "pay", you "donate", and you get VIP access in return) -- otherwise you wait for the updated source like everyone else.

Sorry again pretty new to the MQ2 community. Lax But I think your point is good and another way to look at it is that Devs/Contributers would rather share the wealth with others that are doing the same rather than people that are just leeching off the project.
I dont disagree with this so dont think im trying to make a stink of it. Just trying to make the same point you are from a different angle.

You need to understand the the devs have not contributed to the fixes posted in ViP for the last patch. The ViPs are doing that themselfs.
So don't make statements regarding the intentions of the Devs.. you would be wrong.

people expecting devs that dont even play the game to update open source code promptly makes me laugh.

If you want the truth, devs are here to add functionality and/or make periodic updates to the cvs repository.
Offset, Struct, and virtual function changes are more 'maintenance' type concerns and should be within the scope of any qualified user to update him/herself.
Therefore, one should expect zips when there's new content to be had rather than just because we had an SOE patch. At the moment, the devs are busy on other issues and no one has recently posted any significant 'additions' to the source, so there's really no current reason for releasing a new zip other than to cater to the masses.
That's not to say that one of us might again feel the urge to start updating every patch as has been done the past year; however, it's not something that every user should take for granted.
Also, remember that there are three active/communicating devs on this project at the moment and I see no reason for that to change in the immediate future (cvs security has been an issue in the past). So, I would imagine that things will remain as they have been the past year (and currently) for the foreseeable future.

ps. This thread has outlived its usefulness as the original poster's question has been answered and folks are now simply providing commentary.
