Tagger, would you be ok with sending me copies of your genbot macro files? That part of mine doesn't work.
If you can post it here or send it to me, thanks. If not, that's ok too...

Since the newest release of MQ, this crashes to desktop as soon as a command is issued to the bot. Is anyone else having this problem?

Did I miss something? No one has responded to this Genbot thread saying theirs is broken. I've looked all through the general and vip sections, and through the help sections - Nothing. If I'm missing something glaringly obvious, I apologize. But please shed light if you have any information.
Thanks,
Process
P.S. I tried to get raid druid mac to work too, but the plugins required to make it work are bugged as well as far as I can tell.

most or all macros that go beyond the most basic stuff is currently not very functional. and it is pointed out in several places in the forum. to begin with, check out the annocement post for the latest release at:

Lots of things are broken. Don't expect your macros to work correctly.
Basic macros should work. MQ2Map, MQ2ItemDisplay, MQ2ChatWnd work.
AAs and HUD do NOT work. Custom plugins might need a lot of work.
here is some other threads that also tell you the same stuff:

Change the instances of .MyCastTime in Botspell.inc to .CastTime and see how it works.

Process, we understand.
You just have to process all these changes your way on the short bus.

That's not enough. I had to comment out references to botheal.inc and botspell.inc, and then a couple other spell casting varsets as well to prevent errors.
Though keep in mind if you do that and then turn casting on within your character's ini file, you will likely either crash the macro or crash EQ to desktop.

It looks like it's time for my annual post. I want to be more active but life is just not cooperating.
I have received a few PM requests for an update, so I have edited the first page with the code that I have been using lately. Due to very limited play time, it is probably not bug free. The subset of commands that I use work.

Use whatever tool works for you. I didn't see AutoBot until today. I didn't like RaidDruid, which appears to be what AutoBot originated from. I also see having to compile a bunch of extra plugins as a downside (just write the thing as a plugin if you're going to require people to do extra compiling).
From a purely technical point of view, AutoBot is probably better. However, for me (and obviously others), Genbot is still good enough that there's no point in going through another learning curve.

actually autobot != genbot would be accurate.
Genbot has a great use a low maintenance, short setup and very easily controlled macro.
Autobot is superior int he automation of characters, but much harder (as in time consuming) to setup right and hard to stop when going.
Both have it's uses

Genbot is also available to all. Not everyone can be a l33t VIP :) Get em hooked with genbot, when they're ready to take their botting one step further, suck them into VIP and really get them hooked. Genbot is like botting for beginners. I used to use it too, it's not a dig trust me. But the macro is so rigid in what it can and can't do, that advanced group/raid techniques are just not feasible.
If I could write AutoBot up as a plugin I'd gladly do it. But the fact of the matter is, every line you can save in the macro via a plugin speeds up the pace of your macro greatly. 40 macro lines per frame is a HUGE limitation to the speed of your macro, and genbot was/is greatly crippled by it, back when I used to use it. Plugins work independent of this 40 line per frame limit, speeding up a macro by a MASSIVE amount. Using plugins to complement my macro makes it run like a raped ape. My cleric hits Divine Arbitration and saves lives faster than you can blink. My chanter has every single add in camp locked down in a matter of seconds. My druid drops out of his nukes and debuffs in favor of healing like a pro.
