There recently was an EQ Dev sumit, and there was a certain paragraph that I thought would be worthy of enlightening people on
Whats going to be done in relation to the bolded paragraph?rom the cleric boards of the summit over the weekend...
First up was marketing. The marketing guys wanted to know how we liked the expansions, where we bought them (digital or boxed), what influenced digital vs box, etc. They also wanted to know how to better encourage new subscribers. They took lots of notes and seemed interested in what we had to say.
The rest of the day was devs and various game aspects. Most of the devs (save Absor) were there. Lots of good info from those which is what you guys are probably most interested in. So here goes, from the top of my head (my notes are at home atm )
DoD stuff
Zajeer talked at length about what made him make the DoD gear with the stats he did. A lot of the DoD missions are designed with a certain level of difficulty and he tried to aim for a certain level of reward for certain difficulty. He's going to review the DoD database tho and revamp anything that is not appropriate.
GoM is indeed interacting improperly with Abundant Healing. Rashere is going to look into it this week. He thinks he has an idea of what's going on.
Zajeer actually came to me on one of the breaks and told me that a message I had sent him about the melee weapons and procs had been received and that he had redone all the DoD cleric weapons to have a BETTER proc than the HoHV. The new procs should scale much better AND will scale the heal proc as well so newer dropped weapons should exceed the 68 summoned hammer.
MacroQuest/cheating
Grumbuk has a tool he's been working on and he said it was about 70% complete. This tool, when enabled, will automatically suspend accounts suspected of cheating. Obviously having such a tool means you need to make sure you are not suspending non-cheaters so he's going to take his time making sure it's as thorough as possible before it's enabled. In the meantime he says ALL cheating via MQ is logged and if you warp, equip items improperly, etc, then they know about it and people are being banned. There were several requests for ban numbers to help discourage MQ use and I think there will be one eventually.
UI
Didn't hit all my points I had on this one but I mentioned certain handy features for chat (ie tabbed chat channels) and there was lots of dev scribbling. I wasn't alone in wanting to see UI improvements.
Oh, and the new UI is coming Soon(tm). The coders assured us it won't break current UI setups.
Other cleric stuff
AC softcap... Frodlin immediately laughed when I mentioned the 1300 AC cap and he said warriors have about 1400. Zajeer piped up and said that, as a plate class, we get a higher return over the cap than other armor classes. So there should be a difference between a 2200 AC cleric and a 2200 AC wizard. Certainly explains a lot.
Melee skill caps don't affect the to-hit percentages. They affect min-max damage and that's all. To-hit percentages are a function of your level vs the mob's level. That came straight from Zajeer btw.
Rytan said he hadn't decided how best to expand the procing weapons and defensive proc to lower clerics. It's likely going to happen but not yet. I mentioned it to Zorillius too just so he doesn't forget
Zorillius opened the open discussion section by discussing the death penalty. He wanted to turn it off entirely and most people disagreed in part. There's too many thoughts to get it all in here but basically nothing is going to change in the immediate future.
Res and corpses
I mentioned the particle effect idea to the coders and, apparently, the coders have already been working on changing corpse names when the corpse no longer has experience. So, for example, Bob's Corpse would rename to Bob's Remains upon his accepting a res. Rather large change if you ask me.
Mana and Endurance Regen
I mentioned the whole downtime issue in the DoD discussion (we were long since off the tracks) and there was a rather long discussion that boiled down to EQ not having an "in-combat" and "out-of-combat" state. They are working on it and I got the impression that none of the devs were pleased with where mana or endurance regen (Rashere actually stated he thought END regen was worse atm than mana) so there's hope that it will get a solution in the future.
Stackable Invis Potions
I mentioned this and the devs had that look of "They don't?"
Maybe SOE is a government operation...
*** Zajeer made these stackable, goes in on next patch***
Evolving items are tied to kills, not quest or MM exp rewards.
Find may soon mark your compass a la missions in zones where find paths cannot be created.
There may be a / command to activate items for macros in the near future...
Tradeskills currently have a 3% success rate for skillups with a random 10% chance added in. Soon that will be going to a fixed 13% (if I understood that correctly)
Merchants may soon show their default inventory first like the old system did.
Pottery changes coming Soon(tm)
PoP temper changes Soon(tm)
Druid stances are still on the dev to do list
Raid invitations for groups with members out of the zone were mentioned. No word on a fix but the devs weren't opposed.
Self DS cap may soon be increased
Guilds may soon get an "applicant" level with guild chat but no guild bank access
Guild banks may soon get withdrawal auditing
Guild banks may also get a "dump" command like the raid window
Raid windows may be sortable by class soon
/target may get a raidus boost
There may be a login server "boot" button to help people with 1018 problems. Not sure on this one as devs weren't sure if it would be exploitable.
