I feel dense...

Post by Shammy » Sat Dec 28, 2002 2:46 pm

Finally got 2nd pc up and running, and would like to get a cleric bot working. Still, after reading the posts here, and scratching my head I cant even get MQ to work.

Did as follows:

- Installed latest java, and perl (5.6)
- Downloaded the latest version (20021201) and unzipped it
- Changed name on the ini file (removed .dst)
- Copied the stickied offsets to eqgame.ini (overwriting all the old stuff in there)
- Edited the eqgame.ini to show latest clientversion

When I start eq it hangs after char select, and when I quit out the error message informs me that its the wrong client version.

Any good ideas I can try?

Btw, running win98 and no EQW installed.

Weeeeeeeelllllllllll

Here's some things you might try.
~Make SURE you're using the 12/01 version of MQ
~Set Client Override=1
~Uninstall Perl
~Delete the .dll associated w/ perl
~Use EQW so that you know a lot faster if it's going to work.
~Check that your EQ client isn't set for a different timezone than the ini...
~And, lastly, in the words of the immortal MC Hammer...you've got to pray (pray!) pray (pray!), you've got to pray just to make it today.

It's prolly some one of those things. :)

Thanks for quick reply, but how do I check this?

To be honest....

To be honest, I don't really know. I think I do, but I've never had a problem w/ this so I dunno.

Go into sony/eq trilogy (whatever your EQ folder is)/ and right click on "eqgame.ini". It has "date created" and "date modified", it has a date and a time. Check that w/ your eqgame.ini in your MQ/release folder.

That's the bestest I can offer bro.

Well, Im praying now cause I tried everything else :)

Still get the "Incorrect client version Thu Dec 05 03:07:56 2002"

Tried most of what I found on the messageboards here, but always get that annoying message.

Will delete everything and have another look trough, just for sake of good order. Might have missed a little detail somewhere.

Again, thanks for your help Malachi.

Hmmm

Mebbe the seconds count, lol.

Here's the top of *my* offsets. :)

Code: Select all

[MacroQuest]
MacroQuestVersion=IRC-20021116
ClientName=eqgame
ClientVersion=Thu Dec 05 03:07:xx 2002
ClientOverride=0
MacroQuestWinClassName=__MacroQuestTray
MacroQuestWinName=MacroQuest
And it's amusing to me that this works, lol, cuz I'm using the 1201 release of MQ...

Seconds dont count but timezones do. Make sure its not a TZ problem by right clicking on the eqgame.exe in your everquest directory and pick properties. Look at the created date/time if they are different to the eqgame.ini in the macroquest dir then edit it so they match.

Checked the times again, and the created time on eqgame and the time in egame.ini are identical. Still no luck with starting :cry:

I play in europe, on gmt +1 timezone, could that have anything to say?

Salutations,
prolly not, also the MQ version at the top, is anything you want it to be, You could make it "Jhon is a horrid macroer" and that would be your mouseover on the MQ tray...

Got it working...

Looked a little closer, and found a single "space" was added after each line when I copied the offsets. Removed those, and MQ loaded fine.

Now for the actual use of macroes, expect more questions in the days to come :)
