As far as the guy that said sony will hear about this.......

I think all there GM's use MQ2 as it is. You know it is better than any interface they would come up with.....LOL

I believe this to be somewhat true. I would think that GMs would not have MQ2, but EQ's own version of it that enables everything. /shrug

I don't see using MQ2 in the context that it is offered on this board as cheating. I see it more as adding balance to a game that has a severe lack in customer service. If you think about it... If Sony listened to it's customers, and made the game the way it should be, MQ2 might not be needed. The fact that so many use it is proof of that. Now that I think of it, EQ2 has macros built into it (is that cheating to use them?)... Why don't they do that for EQ1 too?

I see MQ2 as more of a resource, much ling having lots of time to play or lots of people backing you up for a kill. Does it give some people an advantage that others might not have? Sure it does. Is it cheating if Uberjohn Doe has 12 hours to play, every day, when I can only play for 1 or 2 hours a day? I don't think so. Is it cheating if Uberjohn Doe has 53 people to group up with and kill end game mobs, gaining access to loot that I will never see, while my guild is lucky to gather 2 groups of people to raid things? I don't think so. Is it cheating if I am using MQ2, and Uberjohn Doe does not? Not even close in my opinion. At the same time, if he uses MQ2 also, I say good for him. :) Just because someone has an advantage, doesn't make it cheating in my book.

I am not trying to justify my use of MQ2 (I know it's against the rules)... but you can't justify something if you don't believe it's wrong, there's just no need to do so. MQ2 might be against the EULA, but I don't see it as cheating in any way if it's used for what is offered on this board.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the post with this, just unloading a few things on my mind. I'm just glad MQ2 is here, and I hope that it is able to continue for as long as they are needed.

I cannot agree with that. While many, many people argue that stock MQ is nothing more than an enhancement to EQ that should be a part of the game, you can't make the choice to add that enhancement without breaking the rules. Regardless of how many people believe that the game should provide the features MQ provides, you are still granting yourself abilities and knowledge that a person who chooses to play by SoE's rules does not have. There is absolutely no justification to using MQ except "I like to cheat". That's an acceptable reason to most people, including myself. However, even though this is my opinion, I don't feel arrogant in stating that I've got sound logic behind me when I say that a legitimate player has every right to completely detest what we do here.

Of course, I've never been one to condone open "fuck you bizzatch" posts, I still believe that legitimate players are justified in having those feelings, even if I disagree with the way most express them.

I agree, cronic just put out a great explanation of where he's coming from and it makes sense. He's referring to the kind of person who really did get thier tayloring up to 200 doing it the hard way. It gives someone a real sense of accomplishment to have gone through and done it the "right" way. From a psychological point of view it validates the effort and makes someone feel like they acheived something that they can feel proud of. At an earlier time such a person might have been one of the folks that built those intricate little ships in a bottle. I think it's admirable that a person is willing to put that much effort into thier hobby. It's shows patience and character. Really, it does.

I however am a videogame junkie who knows fully well that I will never have enough time to do it the right way. I prefer innovative alternative methods. Some people call them cheating, and think it cheapens the accomplishments of others.

Whatever.

I actually got all my Ts's at 250 the hard way, got all my ele flags, Time key, GoD flags, etc the hard way, after maxing AA there really wasent anything left to do in the game, hell i'd quit if i could but just cant seem to make myself throw away 4 1/2 years of work. So i started playing with MQ2, it does add a lil bit more fun to it, not having to log to a druid alt to go scouting spawns, things like that, and i figure hey, if i get caught and banned, well hey i finally will have a real life again.
