as far as i know, something like showeq2 isnt possible with eq2, because client doesnt get to know where all the creeps are, only the ones near

Right, the client does not get all the zone NPC data on zone.

Part of the reasons for that is each zone is multiple servers, and you only get client info for the server you are on, and I believe some queued data from the next closest server. Part of my problem with EQ2 actually is laggy server boundary crosses can be a real killer as your client draws a pack of nasty red evil things only when you are on top of them.

EQ2Rogue wrote:EQ2 is crying to be hacked. You can't even legally make a macro that allows you to cast a spell, like with:

/assist Fighter
/cast 4
/group Nuking %T

This really sucks.

It's obviously a challenge to the MQ world... we won't put in a parser so you can insert your dirty MQ2 macro language. We'll make it 'impossible'.

<reaches for the off the shelf macro programs while I wish for the MQ2 gods to hack EQ2>
As I've seen much confusion on how the current macro system works, here's a little guide so everyone can yell obsinities at incoming monsters as they use their taunt skill, and do the /moon emote too, with one button push of course

Here's the basic format:
(emote) ;(ability / groupchat) ;(ability / groupchat) ;(etc..)
/moon ;useability taunt ;gsay %T has just seen the good side of me

This converts to:
/moon
/useability taunt
/gsay %T has just seen the good side of me

Every macro must start with an emote, that's the main trick to it. If you do not wish for an emote to show up, you can replace the emote with a :, which is a blank emote ( Ex: : ;useability taunt ;gsay Incoming %T ).

The next trick is that, following a semi-colon, all commands have a hidden / added to the start already. The ; replaces the /, so instead of writing /gsay, use ;gsay.

I have not found an actual list of all abilities, but from minute testing... it appears you can just write 'useability' and the name of the skill in lowercase WITH spaces. ( Ex: : ;useability taunt or : ;useability combat healing ).

I've started the beginnings of an Inner Space extension for EQ2. You can find it at http://www.ismods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16.

in your macro box:

/assist Fighter ; useability <name> ; /g Nuking %T

Include all the spaces. Works like a charm.

[Edit] Durr I should read the whole thread.

haha, i've played eq, and played eq2, I use MQ2 on EQ1 of course lolz~ but on eq2? i dont really even see a point in it =\ the game is simple and fast, easy, and not a whole lot to do... its sad when you feel impowered when you enter a game just because you cant cheat? or because you are to retarded to actually do something on your own and need a program to do it for you? only reason i use mq is to /who npc's... never have ran a macro...just a tracking tool imo...

to each their own. You just said that you dont take advantage of 95% of the features of macroquest; why mock someone that takes advantage of more, or different portions?

just a tracking tool.... YOU are a tool.
