Last year I stopped by Plazmic's workplace and met him and Imperfect, in the Northwest corner of the USA -- for kicks, I called it MacroCon 2004.
Later this year (very later), I will be fairly close to the Southeast corner, specifically Charleston, SC, around Christmas. I would like to discuss having a slightly larger MacroCon for 2005 somewhere around there (in or near Charleston, SC, Beaufort, SC, Savannah, GA, or Atlanta, GA). Sure, Christmas is a pretty busy time of year, but we'll have a good 2-week window to pick a date so maybe we can get some of you punk bitches to show up.
First, we need to pick a date around Christmas (between Dec 15 and Jan 5 or so) and a location. Location is probably going to be based on the number of people that might actually show up. If it's going to be only a few people, we can pick a park for an afternoon and/or a bar/restaurant for evening. If for some reason we get more than, oh, 20-25 people that want to show up, we'll discuss other options like reserving somewhere with a pay-at-the-door registration type of thing, etc.
This wouldn't be EverQuest only; it would also be relevant to people playing World of Warcraft, EverQuest II, DAOC, AO, whatever -- if they're doing game automation, customization, or hacking in the style that MacroQuest users are familiar with, it's fair game.
I'm not sure how much interest there will be, but if there's enough we can talk about doing events in the style of other hacking conventions, with speakers and paper submissions (possibly vendor booths) and such. Topics like.. macro development, finding "offsets", exploits, MMO security (white hat and black hat).
