.inc files

Post by melph » Fri Dec 10, 2004 1:10 am

I seem to be having trouble getting Genbot to get the .inc files. My main question is how do you make the .inc files? I tried just using a .mac file and copying the code into that.

It didnt work so well. I just keep getting the error "Couldn't open include file."

Not really sure how else to put it, hopefully someone will be able to help me.

What exactly are the names of those files? No... dont just repeat the error message, look in the macro and read the include statement.

Stupid noob....

Made sure it was on the right directory? Also make sure the editor didn't add a .txt at the end (assuming you using notepad)

Those include files are probably in the snippits forum. Just cut and past.

This is not rocket science....

Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> NotePad
Paste the code into NotePad.

File -> Save As... -> NameOfFile.inc
MAKE SURE THE "Save as type:" is "All Files".

You do the same thing for macros except instead of .inc it's .mac

It is for people that don't have the slightest clue as to how "programming" in general works and are learning.

Stupid question? Maybe for you and me who are experienced in it. Wouldn't kill people to answer easy questions (that don't really warrant a RTFM answer) and try to help people instead of flaming every single time a newb-like question comes along.

I was talking about what an include file means. Sure he can copy/paste and save the file as he was required but where does he puts it, on the release folder? on the macros folders? Besides did you even read his question before just flaming? He asked how to make an inc file, some people still don't know what an extension means other than it is meant for some application. Now, if you have no fucking clue that it's just a simple text file with that extension you might wonder if you need a speacial application to make that kind of file. That's basic programming all code it's just a text file that the compiler takes the time to compile and link.

There's more shit behind it than just copy/pasting and some people aren't just freeloaders that just come to "abuse" the product. Wouldn't kill you to be corteous to people, you never know when you can hit the jackpot and get someone that has a lot of potential, is willing to learn and might end up being a great addition to the project.

Look at your associations, you might be saving it as ####.inc but your computer is really saving it as ####.inc.txt

Go back to your EQ2030 and your MQ2030 and stop asking me these stupid questions.

You can't be good at everything but how hard it is to help or simply keep the harsh comments to yourself?

I remember like a year or so ago how Amadeus was saying that one of the things people could do to help out and contribute to the community was to help out people and answer questions so that they (devs) didn't have to "waste" time on that stuff.

Like it or not this is an open source project and it's public so all kinds of people are going to use it. Be a total jackass to those that just want to exploit it and the game. But stop being dumb enough to the point of not being able to distinguish between what could be a legitimate question and a total idiot asking for his hacks.

You have a piss poor attitude. You sound like a kid that's pissed off cause he's being forced to share his sandbox. It's really getting ridicoulous how this has changed to somewhere when people could ask questions and learn to somewhere where you're purposedly trying to make people afraid to ask.

To each it's own I guess.
