Not quite sure how, but it's finally working... I spent about 3 days on this total, and I only wish I know what I did to make it work... In case anyone else has this problem, here's what I did to fix it...
I downloaded 1016, and I had the same problem. I have XP home /SP1, so I went to the windows update site, and downloaded EVERYTHING available, which mainly was the .Net framework ,and a few other smaller patches.
I then totally removed Everquest from the drive, deleting everything from the Sony directory on down. Once it was gone, I reinstalled it, then expansion (I only have luclin at the moment) and then I patched everything up.
Before running EQ all the way (I logged in but I didn't select a server, just configured options so I had an eqclient.ini file) I edited the eqclient.ini and set newUI=FALSE.
I then ran the 1016 of MQ, launched eqw 2.3, and ran it. I tested with the fletching.mac available in the macro vault, and another script I made with a loop to basically open and close combiners in my inventory. IT WORKED!!! BWAAHAHAHAAAA!... urrm, sorry, I got emotional.. :)
Now I have an odd little problem after running the loop test (a shortened version of the pizza making loop in the readme.html file, opens and closes pack in inv) for a while... I don't think this is MQ directly, it could be eqw or just something about my system, but I'm having a BSOD if I don't move my mouse for a while. Turns out I had both monitor suspended after 20 min and a screen saver after 5 min. I disabled these, but it didn't help.
Anyway, for my needs, this really won't affect me too bad, since I'm always at the keyboard playing. I rebooted, tested the loop again, and the problem is consitent. I rebooted again, and just played normally for the rest of the night just fine.
I have a friend who fessed up last night that he had this exact same issue on his, and this was how he resolved it. I hope it helps anyone else having the same issue...
