No response from MacroQuest

Post by den » Thu Sep 16, 2004 4:14 am

Hello,

I downloaded the latest release, compiled it without any errors, moved the dlls, macroquest2.exe, INIs etc. to a different folder, created new folders logs, macros etc.

When I run macroquest2.exe an icon appears in the system tray but I get no response to any commands in EQ. Even /unload remains not a valid command...

I did read the readme as well the online manual, tried to search the forums but I couldn't find there anything related to simply testing if MacroQuest is running and getting the input.

Have I got to change anything in macroquest.ini?

Make sure you've installed everything in the right directories and that you're running macroquest2.exe FROM that same directory (ie you don't have two copies laying around or something) the best way to go is to run straight from the release directory after you compile. Otherwise the default INI as included should work to get you going.

Otherwise, no idea what the problem might be, unless a virus scanner or something is blocking things.

Yes I'm using the default UI and I don't have any MQ window.

My Macroquest directory structure looks exactly like this one: http://macroquest.sourceforge.net/files.png I run it from its directory and only one instance is running.

MQ seems to run well because doubleclicking on the notify icon sends me to a webpage and a context menu pops up on right mouseclick.

And neither anti-virus nor firewall is blocking it.

I've figured it out at last. It seems that both EQ and MQ need to be run with administrator privileges.

Thanks for your replies.
